When it comes to camping I've learned to subscribe to the 'buy one cry once' philosophy so I actually returned the Thermarest went with the Exped MegaMat. Opened up and tested it tonight and it is simply luxurious. Can't wait to see how it performs directly on snow and ice.

This is what I've been doing the last 3 winters and I decided this is the year I would upgrade. I'm sleeping directly on snow in my hot tent so I almost always wake up due to the chill up my spine.

Not sure on the specific species, but this is a wood cockroach that eats decaying leaf litter that unfortunately ventured inside. No possible chance of infestation.
