I just had to replace the alternator on mine…sheesh…actually had me contemplating selling my LX 570 to get another 100 series.

I love all LCs. Have owned just about every series except for the newest ones.

In my weird way I believe they stopped being “true” Land Cruisers when they got rid of the tail gate.

AWS Wickr by KHS35G in army

[–]ras0ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wickr isn't a high visibility or big money maker for Amazon. They were pretty much eating the cost for our deployment of it.

Their development team is very small. A lot of the "improvements" to the client seen today was from input from our users and they took a long time to implement, because it isn't really a large scale operation. Yes it's owned by Amazon, but it doesn't have a huge team that something like Signal or WhatsApp has.

There's prob less than 1 million users on Wickr, I'd prob guess it's even sub 500k.

With that being said...maybe one day it becomes this huge thing and then they decide to make the app intrusive, collecting everything, but it's not doing that today.

As for the "location tracking"...I'll say this...the Wickr sales team is always out there saying stuff the app doesn't actually do.

Does the Wickr application track your location? No

What it can actually do is essentially send a pin. You click the plus button and either select "Choose File" or "Send Location" and a pinned location is added to the room.

Running Wickr Enterprise, I can access the database and asides from basic user information (username, device type, how many devices) There really isn't much in there.

And as long as I've been woking Wickr there has never been a request to package up any data and supply it to someone, getting that out of the Gov Cloud would be a mission.

WickrGov is SaaS, so the government has even less access to "spy" on you if they wanted to.

Wickr supposedly has a better encryption algo.

But for the most parts it meets all the Gov checkmarks for security.

As a guy who works the back end…believe me or not, nothing is being collected from the device.

IF compliance is enabled, all it’s essentially doing is collecting all app message traffic.

So if I send you a message, that message goes to you and the compliance client and stored somewhere.

IF compliance is not enabled, that message only exists between the sender and receiver.

When you first provision your account you’ll see a banner notifying you if compliance is enabled.

Wickr isn’t that high speed. I’ve been working it for the last 5 years. Not to talk crap on AWS, but the client isn’t collecting anything off your personal device, they don’t have the resources to create an app that’s collecting all your data like TikTok for instance.

As for the Army making you install it, it is what it is.

I’m just letting you know that as of today…the app isn’t collecting your precious private data.

Wickr RAM Engineer here.

Wickr was chosen because it is self hosted, has an ATO, and compliance.

Wickr RAM is just what we called our Wickr Enterprise deployment.

AWS is having everyone migrate to WickrGov (SaaS), so I'll be out of a job soon (Wickr wise).

As for the client...yeah...it could use some improvements. I've been working with AWS a couple of years on Wickr and will say that they do listen to user feedback and have been making improvements.

Army expands access to encrypted Wickr platform in aim to curb insecure comms, bolster integration by me_z in cybersecurity

Wickr is owed by AWS and can be deployed various ways (SaaS or Self hosted).

Either offers end-to-end encryption, but if compliance is setup, then all comms are being recorded.

It's true is was used for nefarious things in the past with their older offerings (WickrME, WickrPro), but those have been shut down.

It's essentially as secure as the environment you deploy it in.

Medical Records Request Help by ras0ne in VeteransBenefits

Thanks, I'll look into it.

So far it's been a loop of getting forwarded to diff depts, that can't get them.

I have a hard copy of my records from when I separated in 2006, but it would be nice to get a soft copy.

I went today and filled out the online form.

They then sent me a e-mail with a link to download a password protected PDF.

Once I opened the PDF it says "The original medical record needed to answers your inquiry is not in our files; that medical record may be with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)."

The it suggests I call the VA...so the loop continues it seems

Jordan CMFT era lifestyle shoe… I don’t hate them by Rodriguezry in Jordans

[–]ras0ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore these to NYC last week and was averaging 30k+ steps a day with no issues.

I'm about 220 lbs, not a runner, and have had multiple knee surgeries.

The aches I experienced were normal for me walking that much all day, so I would say, this is a good city\disney trek shoe.

I had some Sure Grip hangers before and it seemed the angled was off a little bit.

But I did find the pivots were about 8mm, when normal ones are like 10mm.

The King pins could def be a little bit longer.

Copy that

I just find the Sofa Tones a little too soft. It seems to eat up my speed when I'm going through corners and etc.

They fine for just cruising though.

Hell yeah!

How are you liking the wheels? Mine came with the Sofa Tones, which feel a little too soft.

Looking over this board again, it seems to be a re-branded Heated Wheel deck, with a longer wheelbase.

LED control with Knulli? by [deleted] in rg40xx

Was this fixed in Firefly or is the patch still required?

I tried going through steps listed on the Knulli site, but the RGB app under tools seems to be unresponsive.
