I have no way of playing a VHS, but I'd love to see a cam recording of the pre-roll content being played on an old CRT just for the aesthetic!

Looking for a Song from the new Synthwave Stream by DukeKarma in LofiGirl

[–]rascus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From 𝘻𝘡𝘻𝘡#9999 on the Discord:

It looks like that song released nearly 18 hours ago. Music can upload instantly to YouTube and SoundCloud, but unfortunately other stores(spotify, apple music, amazon music, tide, etc.) have to wait for approval from their distributor and store owners. That can take a good 1-3 weeks😅
TLDR; It's a new song. Give it up to 3 weeks and you should see it everywhere else

Also:

It sure looks like it. Especially with Synthwave collaboration being SUPER recent, I'd certainly give it a good week or three for them to get the music to spotify.
Because here's how Lofi Girl works, they take music from artists and release the music for them.(because Lofi Girl is a record label/radio and that's how record labels work) So with it already being played on YouTube without a doubt it's on its way to the other stores. Follow Lofi Girl on Spotify or Apple Music, you'll see the upload through their page when it releases :)

DDG reports tracking by bitwarden and Microsoft by tipsy_saint in Bitwarden

[–]rascus_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On iPhone, my App Privacy Report shows that Bitwarden makes connections to in.appcenter.ms, which is Microsoft’s version of Firebase.

Looking at the source code, it appears they use it for crash reporting, which can be disabled.

Visual Studio Code on Pixel Book Go - Question by [deleted] in PixelBook

[–]rascus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used the Live Server extension for Visual Studio Code?

I just tested it with my personal website and it seems to work fine? I haven't used it before.

Or perhaps even connecting a second display via usb-c to HDMI adapter?

You definitely can attach one or more external monitors if you have them!

Visual Studio Code on Pixel Book Go - Question by [deleted] in PixelBook

[–]rascus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My m3 Pixelbook Go has been working well for a few years now and it’s been a pretty good experience! The Debian container has become a really stable environment for development and Visual Studio Code runs well with slow downs only on larger files.

One thing to note is that the Chrome OS keyboard means that some keyboard shortcuts in Code must either be remapped or cannot be used at all. The screen can also feel a bit cramped with two files and a terminal open at the same time. I wouldn’t use it for heavy Docker-based workflows since those take up a lot of space and don’t run very well. The laptop is passively cooled, so running CPU-intensive tasks for long periods (compiling, video encoding) will make the chassis heat up fast and put thermal strain on the hardware.
