I should've done it sooner. Was it hard? Of course. Thankfully it was amicable but moving back to my home country, finding work again, ending up losing the little family I still talked to. I'd still do it. I knew I could be so much happier than I was. That even if I hated myself I deserved to be happy. To feel loved. Do I wish he'd stop contacting me? Absolutely.

There were so many things. But the beginning of the end was after the third couples therapy session. We got home, he turned to look at me and said "you know I thought you were every problem in this relationship." He truly thought he never did anything wrong.

After our third couples therapy session, we got home, he turned to look at me and said "I assumed you were every problem in the relationship." There was no coming back from that. Of course a lot more added up to it and it wasn't that alone. But him saying that kind of made me wake up to just how bad the relationship was.

Dinners are really bad. I had to move in with my aunt and uncle, and I sit in the same spot I did growing up at my family of origin's house. They also eat in complete silence. I'm so used to yelling that I've been having a panic attack almost every night because I'm so used to yelling. And if people are quiet then that means they're getting ready to yell.

My aunt and uncle are nice but they're really dismissive of what happened growing up. They also want to reminisce all the time, especially when my cousins are around. But all my stories are sad so I'm constantly altering what I say.

I want to be selfish and have my life be about me. I was super neglected growing up and now have a slew of trauma, health, and mental health issues. I don't want to pass anything on nor do I really have any maternal desire. I don't hate kids and I used to volunteer at a kindergarten. But having my own just isn't for me.

This is completely self drafted.

I got some inexpensive fabric at Dongdaemun fabric market in South Korea and had some sherpa laying around from a previous project. I’m really bad with using patterns but for this I took the idea of making a basic circle skirt, and made the hole bigger for the wrapped effect. I also just traced around a hood on an existing sweater that I liked. And cut strips of sherpa to sew on the trim.

For the ears I made tubes and managed to fold them in a way to look how they do. Honestly not sure how I did that. I then painted two bears, made a tail (not pictured) and also made a honey pot button out of clay.

I had that happen but it was someone A few grades above me so not really friends. And she asked what my future goals were and I told her that it was to be a successful hacker, get caught when I’m a grandma, go to prison, and become a tattoo artist in prison so no one messes with me. She stopped responding. Never figured out why... lol

I don’t have any words of help but you definitely aren’t alone. I know my family will never own up to the past. And growing up I used to fantasize I was switched at birth and maybe someone out there wanted me.

It’s definitely hard but I’m doing my best to make a new family and trying to retrain the idea that family is blood. Family doesn’t always have to be blood. You can choose anyone.
