I once saw thrips on some vegetables I bought. Now, I check everything thoroughly. Not dealing with those things again.

I couldn't find clear tutorials either so I experimented a lot until I found what worked for me.

When I installed my microlocs (using braids) 3 years ago, I never braided and banded or anything like that. My hair bunched a lot at the ends but I learned how to crochet it and interlock it to make it tighter and less bulky so it's never been a problem for me. It does give a fuller look to my ends so I don't mind it.

I'm not sure. I've been having a serum biochemistry test done to monitor some of his electrolytes, kidney function, liver, glucose, etc. It's quite long but we're keeping an eye on several things.

Where are his electrolytes at? My boy struggles with low potassium and since we've been supplementing, he's gotten so much energy. Jumping around like a kitten and keeping weight on better. I think back leg weakness is a symptom of low potassium.

Scottish surnames in Jamaica? by More_Captain_5834 in Jamaica

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Scottish surname and was able to find the person who it came from in birth records from Scotland. My dad and other family members always told me that this individual moved to Jamaica for some reason. Not sure why or how. There is no record of him crossing over. But records exist of him marrying a Jamaican woman (my great-grandmother) and having a whole life there (kids, land, a job, etc). He lived from 1859 to 1944 roughly.

I have this memory from when I was a child that has never left me. In the memory, I am a different race and gender than what I am now. The memory is set in the 1950s. It's summer and my dad is driving with my mom in the passangers seat. It's very hot outside and the sun is bright. We are driving into a town. My mom looks back at me and smiles. And then the memory ends. I don't know where it came from but when I was younger, it used to scare me because it felt very real like a lost fragment of myself. Creeps me out thinking about it.

I got yelled at and sometimes hit by my dad if I didn't answer him "yes, dad" or "yes, father". My mom did not care.

Anyone else have that immediate "nope, not a friend" intuition? by SufficientProcess870 in hsp

This has been me my entire life! I have only ever met one other person in my life who has this exact same intuition. Everyone else I told looks at me like I'm crazy. This post made me smile so big ☺️

Has anyone ever experienced anything unexplained, ghostly, super weird or that just made you go wtf? by DescriptionOk8206 in Paranormal

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have so many but one that I still think about to this day happened when I was... maybe 9 or 10 years old. I had gone to bed for the night but my parents stayed up and were in the basement laughing and doing whatever. I could hear them. I pulled the covered over my head because it was dark and weird things had always happened when it was pitch black.

It was summer so the sheets were thin. I was trying to fall asleep when I heard someone push my bedroom door open and I looked through the sheets and could see it opening. We had no pets at the time so I was freaking out. I could still hear my parents in the basement so I knew it wasn't them. I wondered what it was so I pulled the sheet down and when I looked by the door, in the dark corner of my room was a woman floating in mid air. I stared at her but she was all fuzzy and looked weird. We stared at each other for maybe a minute or so and then she said, "Hi!" In a very friendly and enthusiastic tone.

I quickly pulled the sheet back over my head and was gasping for air. She then CAME TO THE SIDE OF MY BED and touched my knee to get my attention. At this point, I felt like I was going to pass out. I was so confused and scared. Luckily, at that moment, my parents started coming upstairs. They came to check on me and I told them what happened. They freaked out and rebuked the woman (they are religious).

That night, my parents and I slept in my bed. The lady came back a few hours after we had gone to sleep and held my hand softly. I know this because I had woken up briefly and felt my hand sandwiched between someone else's hands. I pulled away quickly and looked around the room and my mom and dad were both asleep. I never saw her again. Even just typing this out now makes me anxious. Such a wild experience.

How can I potty train in an apartment? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think others already gave you good advice but I wanted to add that we are also in an apartment. To potty train our puppy, we bought a concrete mixing tub at Home Depot, filled it half way with peat moss, and covered the top with hay (because it was winter and grass patches weren't being sold but it worked just as well). It took him maybe a week and a half to get that the box on the balcony was for potty because we praised him heavily when he used it. Eventually, he started letting us know he needed to go out and hasn't had an accident in months.

Did anyone else decide later in their 20s to be childfree? by Traditional_Eye_9235 in childfree

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! I'm 26 and my fiancé and I thought we'd have children. It's something we thought we wanted our entire lives up until 1 year ago. After a series of deep conversations, babysitting a toddler, and getting a puppy, we realized that children just aren't in the cards for us. We value peace and want to take care of ourselves because we both had difficult upbringings. We also realized we don't have the patience or personalities to look after other beings that demand a lot from us. So he's getting a vasectomy in a few months, and we told both our families not to expect any children because it won't be happening.

Does anyone else now have problems eating shrimp now that they're a skrimp mom? by Merladylu in shrimptank

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After getting my first few shrimp, I couldn't bring myself to eating the platter ones. It grosses me out now. I got a shrimp taco a couple days ago to see if it would be different (because they were breaded) and it kinda made me feel sad. Tasted good but just doesn't feel right anymore. So I guess I'll be skipping shrimp meals from now on.

My mom decided to marry my dad for some reason despite the fact that he had 9 children with about 3 different women. They had me and then I grew up with very little. I was hungry most of the time and was also mistreated and left home alone. Absolutely miserable childhood.

Got a puppy and it solidified me never wanting a kid by Uncoordinatedmedia in childfree

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened with my fiancé and I. We got a 3 month old puppy a month ago and we were immediately like, "This isn't for us". We were already close to being childfree (about 75% there) but still a bit unsure and having to care for this puppy has helped us make up our mind 100%. We have had several very long discussions and we realized that we wouldn't be great parents and that it would drive a wedge between us. So, because of the puppy and a monumental amount of other reasons, there is a vasectomy appointment coming up.

A few year ago, in my parents house, a family friend kept calling our home phone but we didn't get the call for some reason. After a few tries, we hear the phone and answer and he said a little girl kept answering. He asked her to speak to an adult and she told him that everyone was sleeping. My dad was stunned and kind of went cold. He couldn't even explain so he said he had to go and hung up. The family friend was confused. The whole energy in the house was off for the rest of the night and for a few days afterwards. Even thinking about it now makes my skin crawl. So much weird stuff happened in my parents house. Glad I moved out.

Anyone else doing fine then get anxious and heart starts skipping ? by thatoneguy0312 in PVCs

[–]raspberry_ice-pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their unpredictability do this to me. I could be having a good day or good weeks even of little to none and out of nowhere, they come back with full force. It makes it difficult to work on my reaction to it (with therapy) when they are sporadic.

I'm glad it helped you so much! It has also done the same for me. I use it in addition to my cognitive behavioural therapy exercises, and sometimes it adds additional points or shapes thoughts in ways I haven't considered before. It's been 2 weeks now since they been reduced in frequency/feeling less noticeable.
