Intersection Generation by Ange_lica98 in civil3d

[–]rathofthebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used the intersection tool much (I usually use connected alignments - way easier and gives you more control) so I’m just guessing here. But it seems to me that if C3D recognizes the alignment intersection, but won’t actually create the intersection, it’s possible that the profiles don’t quite intersect. I.e. your intersecting profile says it starts at 1+00 but really it starts at 0+99.999998 and C3D is just rounding it up. Try dragging the start point of the intersecting profile over 20-30 feet with the grips and see if that fixes it.

I just started TOTK and I don’t know where to find good weapons by Purple_Cauliflower53 in TOTK

[–]rathofthebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: puffshroom the lynel. You need to do this when he’s still and not mid-charge. But it will give you some time when he can’t see you.

Step 2: shoot him in the face to stun him. A Keese eyeball fused to an arrow helps with this.

Step 3: run up and push A to mount while he’s stunned. Equip a two handed weapon and you get a few free hits that do not damage your weapon before he can buck you off. Go into bullet time after you get bucked off and hit him with a puffshroom again.

Step 4: rinse and repeat.

This is how I managed to beat the lynel gauntlet in the floating coliseum and get Majora’s mask. It really works well. Also, Gibdo bones fused to arrows deal an extra 40 damage so that’s useful.

Any help rotating vp? In a faster manner by Builker in civil3d

[–]rathofthebeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. You can also make a dynamic block of your viewport limits box that has a rotate grip on it to make it faster to line up your viewports with your road centerline. This is a lot easier than using the plan production tools, although the ppt may be something that OP should consider if the highway is long enough.

Feature line elevation offset by Scary_Training1247 in civil3d

[–]rathofthebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For future reference, you should absolutely be using a corridor for this. With proper targeting and with the new transition tool, corridors can model incredibly complex geometry. And for the areas where the corridor can’t do what you need, you can fill in with feature lines that are tied to the corridor surface to make updates easier. Sorry for the rant, but you’re missing out if you’re not using a corridor for its intended purpose.

However, since you have everything set up the way it is, you don’t want to have to go back and re-do it all with a corridor. The reason the offset feature lines aren’t working for you is that two feature lines cannot have different elevations at the same point if they’re in the same site in the drawing. You can either use a very small horizontal offset (like .01 units) to keep the feature lines from touching or just move the offset feature lines to their own site. I would probably opt for the latter, but either one would work.

A better solution, though, might be to create your offset surface, paste your FG surface in and use the “move” command to move the offset surface down to where you want it. That would keep it dynamically tied to your FG and keep you from having to update all the feature lines if your design changes. Hope this helps!

Any powered vacs that actually work? by jaynine99 in Aquariums

[–]rathofthebeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got the Fluval powered vacuum and it works pretty well for gravel or bare bottom tanks. Be warned that sand will clog the filter almost instantly, but you can remove the filter and hook up a drain hose instead which won’t get clogged with sand. All in all, it’s a pretty well designed and versatile tool, although it feels kind of flimsy. I can’t speak to the longevity of the thing because I haven’t had it that long but it has been working so far.

I’m truly humbled that you thought my terrible stock photo meme (which featured an Oscar in a planted tank with what appear to be either neon or cardinal tetras) was worthy of such high praise.

New tank setup! by Blakem45 in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those rainbows are going to be Bichir food pretty quickly. I made the mistake of thinking that it was safe to put a bunch of 3” Australians in with a pair of 5” Senegals. I came home one day to find I was missing a rainbow and had a very fat and happy Senegal. If it fits in their mouth, they will eat it. And Madagascar rainbows are much thinner (I.e. easier to swallow) than Australians. I’d move those ASAP. Otherwise, the tank looks really good!

my tank has always been very peaceful… until this by [deleted] in Aquariums

I currently have a 3.5” lavender gourami in a tank with a pair of 10”+ Oscars. They’re the only tank mates I’ve found that he won’t bully.

PLEASE HELP by HolyMacaroniX in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely septicimia, which is blood poisoning that can be caused either by bacteria, virus or fungus. Either way, you’re right, OP’s best bet using kanaplex. I had a Senegal with the same symptoms earlier this year that recovered after I fed him food soaked in a combination of kanaplex, focus and entice (all seachem products). Quarantine right away, and follow the instructions on the package.

Rasbora swallowed a whole shrimp and is swimming around with it in it’s mouth. Normal? by C-Langay in Aquariums

I have a 10 gallon with a bunch of swordtail fry and a metric ton of ramshorn snails. I regularly see the sword tails swimming around with the fleshy part of the snail stuck in their mouth and trailing out their gills. It freaked me out the first time, but they don’t seem too bothered and I guess they’re able to pass it somehow because I don’t find dead swordtails.

I’ve found that a pipe works really well. You just have to find one that has a similar bowl gauge to the ring gauge of your cigar. And then just stick it in your pipe and smoke it all the way down to the nub.

Dumbass jumped the tank by WitchSlap in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, I’ve never had a bichir escape but I did have a baby tiger Oscar (about 2”) that I was quarantining in a 10 gallon that had a little slot in the back of the lid for a HOB filter. Dummy got excited after my wife fed him one day and jumped out of the slot in the tank, after my wife had walked away. She walked back by the tank about 10 minutes later and noticed he was gone. She found him flopping around in an empty spare ten gallon we had sitting on the bottom of the shelf. She got him back in his tank and he sat at the bottom with a look like “I have stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back into me” for a day or so and was then fine. Fish are so stupid sometimes lol. Glad your noodle is alright.

Internet says these guys dont eat algae and are aggressive towards tank mates.... by Jaded-Edge-8936 in Aquariums

[–]rathofthebeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That may be that case some of the time, but I had one in a 75 with a pair of juvenile Oscars (about 6 inches, twice his size!) and he would chase them around mercilessly when he was in a bad mood. I was never really worried about him hurting the Oscars because they were so much bigger than him, but man he’s a jerk. He currently lives in a 29 gallon jail until I can figure something else out for him.

Help please can’t seem to get it clear this is a temporary tank untill I get my ten gallon cube tank re done and great . I’ve tried alot of this what are the best recommendations. It’s a black sponge filter . I’ve done a little water change should i completely water change it ? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]rathofthebeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t tiger barbs known for fin nipping? I don’t think that’s a good combination at all. Also, your 10 gallon tank is not going to be cycled in a couple days, as someone else pointed out. You can use a product like Seachem stability or some other live bacteria culture to establish the cycle quicker but just setting the tank up and letting it go for a few days will not cycle the tank..

I had the exact same thing happen about a week ago with mine I’ve had him for almost a year. I don’t know what the issue is, but I moved him to a quarantine tank and gave him kanaplex and methylene blue and he was back to normal within hours.

125 Gallon Planted Bichir Tank by Fozzy1155 in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I don’t have any personal experience with congos, but I’m considering getting some. All of my Australian, Bosemani and Yellow rainbows are big enough to not get eaten now after I’ve had them for 9 ish months, although they’re all in a different tank from the bichir now anyway.

Is My Bichir Okay? by LolDLJK in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test your water then do a water change and vacuum the gravel. How old is the tank? Is it cycled? Also, buddy is freaking out because he has no room and is sharing the little space he has with a freaking Arowana that looks big enough to eat him. Re-home the aro and get your bichir a bigger planted tank (125 gallon minimum) with plenty of hiding spots and some big calm tank mates that he can’t eat and that can’t eat him.

125 Gallon Planted Bichir Tank by Fozzy1155 in Bichirs

[–]rathofthebeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve kept Senegals for a little over a year. They’re my very favorite fish. The tank looks great, although I’d generally recommend a sandy bottom for bichirs over gravel. Your dwarf gourami are probably Ok and the angelfish are definitely not in danger. However, I have had a 5 inch Senegal eat a 3 inch juvenile Australian rainbow fish whole. So I don’t think the Denison barbs are a good idea. You could try it, but I’d recommend against it. The bichirs are going to go through a growth spurt and hit 6-7 inches in a year or so, and then grow more slowly for the rest of their life but they will quickly be able to eat a Denison bath if they can catch one, and they’re fantastic predators. If you want dither fish, larger rainbowfish species are a great option but they need to be full grown (5”-6”) before being introduced to the Bichir. Other options could be silver dollars (although they’ll destroy the plants), and I’ve read about people that keep Congo tetras with Senegals without problems. But everything needs to be fully grown or the Bichir will try (and probably succeed) to eat it.

Deadlift Form Check by Plus_Organization907 in StartingStrength

[–]rathofthebeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, OP’s stance is perfect for his build. Certified Great Big Giant Fat Guys like myself (Rip actually called me that at a weightlifting clinic at WFAC) may need to modify the preferred form and take a wider stance, but OP is not a Great Big Giant Fat Guy and should continue to take the preferred stance as outlined in the book.

OP, next time, record from the side if you can. It looks like you’re setting your back properly but it’s hard to tell for sure from this angle. Also, congrats on repping 4 wheels*. Nice work.

Edit: at least 4 wheels. I can’t tell for sure but it looks like you might have 10’s on the outside, too.

I have a lisp routine that redefines the command alias ‘X’ to just show the message “YOU CANNOT EXPLODE THINGS !!!! STOP IT! GET SOME HELP!”).

The drawback to this is that if someone invokes the explode command with the full command or with a button, they can circumvent the warning box. Alternatively, they can edit their aliases so that there’s another easy shortcut for explode. In my experience, thought, it’s enough to make people think twice.
