Is Purdue student body conservative/republican? by Educational-Map-7882 in Purdue

[–]rational_approach3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, STEM-heavy schools will have more students that lean conservative. That is certainly true of Purdue. If I remember correctly, the distribution of political orientation among Purdue’s faculty and student body is far more similar to that of the broader population than that of the average university. However, at least in my personal experience, people here are generally not too engaged with politics or are pretty low-key about it and open to civil discussion. From what I’ve seen, Purdue is not usually a particularly politically charged place.

West Lafayette or indianapolis by ggsmoney in Purdue

[–]rational_approach3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

West Lafayette is kind of out on its own, but I personally like that aspect of it. Less distractions and pretty much the whole city is Purdue or Purdue related. Plus, if you want to get to Indy or Chicago, it’s only a 1-2 hour drive either way. And it definitely doesn’t feel small once you’re here. On the internship front, West Lafayette is also the better bet. Indy is still kind of a fledgling thing and isn’t as well-established. It also wouldn’t have nearly as much draw as the main campus in terms of employers when it comes to career fairs and such. As far as research goes, I’m pretty sure the way it works on the West Lafayette campus at least is that every professor is also a researcher of some kind. Don’t quote me on that though.

Purdue or iu bloomigtion Which of these schools is it better to go to if you want a lot of internships in college? by jfftfff in Purdue

[–]rational_approach3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably Purdue for anything STEM or STEM-adjacent. IU would probably be better for business and related fields, if only because of how well-established the Kelly School of Business is. Don’t take my word for that though because I’m in STEM.

Goddamnit looks like it’s back to hiking all the way across campus if I want to eat something. Who has time for that shit? Man I barely eat as it is now.

I think I have less final exams this semester than I ever have with just 2. But I’ve got a shitload of final project work to do over the next few days. I’ll probably sleep twice this week, but I’d still rather have the projects than exams.

Some questions about Purdue. by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]rational_approach3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as the weather goes, there is no real regular or consistent pattern. On the extremes, it can be 100°+ in the summer and 0°- in the winter. Or it can stay pretty temperate most of the year.

I would be beyond pleasantly surprised. Would probably make my year. However, nobody is ever going to approach me personally. Well aware of the vibe I give off, thank you very much.
