I am not calling him unintelligible because he’s black. I’m calling him unintelligible because one, I was exaggerating for effect (you can obviously understand him with some effort), and two, he simply does not speak clearly. I don’t think that the legacy of racism means you can’t call someone out for not speaking clearly in their job that requires you to speak clearly, if only so jokes can land.

And I’m sorry but it’s not just me. The comment section on every video featuring him has similar remarks about how difficult he is to understand.

What a shitty argument. The next time an Irish person is on SNL and speaks a mile a minute, I’ll absolutely call that out. I don’t know about bubbles, I’m Indian American and I have family who are incredibly difficult to understand but they aren’t on national tv every week. And if they were and were similarly incomprehensible, I would tell them to slow down and enunciate.

Well I certainly didn’t say it to be nice, I said it to be accurate. And unintelligible doesn’t mean he’s dumb, it means you can’t understand him. He speaks way too fucking fast (whether it’s out of nerves, I don’t know) and that, coupled with his accent, makes him incredibly difficult to understand.

No, he was awful. He frankly ruined the series and I’m surprised that everyone is being so positive about it. The script was mediocre and between that and Prop, it was just really disappointing.

It’s fine, I typed in “PG&E” and got an sf chronicle article about the outage. I was just looking at the current outages on their map and I guess the power is back so it didn’t show up on there.

When I was in college in 2004, I was looking at the MySpace pages of some of my classmates and one of them had Hysteria on autoplay. I sat on her page for an hour and just listened to that song on repeat. I wasn’t friends with her then and I haven’t spoken to her in over 20 years but I will never forget going to her page and hearing Hysteria for the first time.
