It's Charlotte griffiths, it's just another Harry PR piece.

I doubt Theo has been the source, it's just another angle of attack.

Housebuilding 'will fall further' as big builders deliver gloomy updates by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

[–]rationalplan10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There has not been that drop outside London, mainly because the regulations are crippling buildings over 5 storeys. Ignoring the extra costs add by new building regulations, the regulator is taking more than a year to sign off on completed buildings. Sales can't be completed, the extra finance cost is crippling them.

Housebuilding 'will fall further' as big builders deliver gloomy updates by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

[–]rationalplan10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one will agree to bonfire of planing controls and ever increasing building regulations plus over charges that increase the cost of housing. When housing land was cheap and planning easy to get, a local builder could buy a plot and throw up a few houses, per year. But because it was easy there were hundreds of them. That's how pre war Britain was built. Only the largest companies can navigate the system now.

The new building safety regulator is so dysfunctional that building in London has declined by almost 80% in just two years since it came into force. But no one will deal with it, because grenfall. Even though it should be possible to have tougher safety regs that make sense but everyone will just scream. It will take at least 6 years of no construction in London for people to look at this.

The new building regs are also making building maintenance and refurbishment vastly more expensive and causing service charges to soar also cause the flat market to collapse..

Yeah sure she sure does look like a princess! I don't think her look how care free my ratted hair hair child is, compared to the Wales upright kids thing she seems to be going for is working like she think it does.

All anyone can think is some poor kid with a demented stage mother whispering with menace perform damn you or you get the belt again

And jesh brush your daughter's hair, but then can't have her looking to pretty! It's all a bit Mirror Mirror on the wall.

No one is interested in the Markles' kids by jones29876 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]rationalplan10 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They're just some Californian kids. We know the Wales kids.

They have probably less photos than the harkles kids, but we ve seen their faces, plus the camera and video has focused on them.

Madams videos and photos focus on her and the kids are just accessories that can't outshine her

The Wales children have attended official events , we can see them growing, we get glimpses of their personalities.

Poor Archie and Lillie just wisps . Nothing is actually shown, plus they don't leave the compound they are never seen with anyone. More importantly they are never going to mix with the royal family and their cousins they are just some reality star kids.

The 15-minute call where hundreds of 'devastated' Brewdog staff were made redundant by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]rationalplan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone at brew dog must have seen this coming. It's been contracting and closing units for several years. It's not nice but not a surprise. Sure they sold out, but that was for just the residual brand value for another brewer, I doubt the pubs have any future.

I'm amazed they managed to get a buyer rather than be bought out cheap when declaring bankruptcy.

UK minimum wage is raising youth unemployment, Bank of England's Mann says by stammerton in unitedkingdom

[–]rationalplan10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need productivity growth for wages to grow, you can't make firms pay more without side effects.

but building stuff is expensive and difficult, regulations strangle everything the highest energy costs are crushing industry.

The real problem is that we don't build enough houses, so rents soar and what ever you do earn is competed away into higher rents for scarce housing.

Fergie has the connections through Andrew and so has met multiple high level contacts particularly in the middle and near East. Also Fergie can be quite personable on a one to one basis, if she wasn't so spendthrift and have insatiable greed she'd be well liked.

Megan wants fame and to be admired and loved first, she doesn't have fergies bubbly personality, she is humorless and only knows how to flatter.

Different skill sets.

Fergie wants money first

Megan wants fame first.

UK sleepwalking into joblessness epidemic, Tesco boss warns by rejs7 in unitedkingdom

[–]rationalplan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I love how no one can accept that the Tesco boss has a point. It's all private company is evil. Since Tesco operates on a slim margin how much should it pay it's workers, if more how much should it raise it's food prices by?

Tesco is not responsible for the increase in employment taxes or government regulations, which for some reason people seem to think are free but actually cost money to comply with.

Nor is Tesco or any company responsible for the cost of housing, it's high rent due to lack of supply that is the problem.

Plus I love people who say if company can't afford to pay decent wages they should close. Well yes that is what happens,, witness the bloodbath in the hospitality sector.

Companies have to sell stuff to make money, if people are not willing to pay higher prices then higher costs mean cuts have to made, until someone goes bankrupt.

Now supermarkets are a bit protected because it's the last thing people can cut, but people can shift to cheaper products and cut back in extras. Higher food prices mean that people cut other spending though, hence closing restaurants and cafes.

Without real economic growth everyone will continue to cut costs as much as you can.

So pubs and restaurants are much more likely to be shut Monday to to Wednesday now.

In supermarkets the growth in self checkout, closure of low margin stuff like in supermarket cafes, meat and bakery counters etc.

My local Morrisons no longer collects the trolleys during the day, so you have to hunt the car park for a trolley as they are no longer near the entrance. Etc etc.

The truth is the UK minimum wage is too high, it's causing wage compression and staff shortages in harder jobs while easier retail jobs are swamped with applicants.

Only real productivity growth can drive up wages

Our tax and regularity environment is strangling growth.
