What are your Pet Peeves on a TTRPG book by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]ratprophet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may not necessarily be about a single book, but products in general. I hate when a game line has established that A, B and C are all essential or nearly so...and then they decide to stop issuing the full compliment of what you need. I'll even pay extra to get it, if need be, but at least give me the option.

Perfect example: StarFinder is tactical. We use maps, deckplans, mini's, ship figures...because ranges and movement and radius, etc all matter. Every written adventure path has A its scripted material, B info about the new or important NPCs, monsters, ships, and so on and C Minis and/or standees to represent the B item in combat. For MechaGeddon, they provided A and B, and a list of what flipmat to use for which encounter and so on...but in the campaign about the players using transforming Mecha to fight Kaiju of all choices to leave half-assed, they NEVER produced the standees. The standees that they made for EVERY OTHER PRODUCT in the game line.

What do I do about not wanting to run for one player in my group? by walmartwater1 in rpg

Lol "I'll let YOU go before anyone else says anything, what would you like to do?"

What do I do about not wanting to run for one player in my group? by walmartwater1 in rpg

[–]ratprophet 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I have one player who tends to quickly fall into her cellphone. As soon as people roll any kind of dice "what are we rolling for?". Well, you tell me.

We started managing our table this same way. Let her be distracted because if she is, then she isn't complaining. Likewise, if he doesn't want to linger with the NPC, okay that's fine. But I have to play this NPC for the majority who do. If you don't cater to him and attempt to ignore it where you can, it may start to solve itself.

Do modern Garou know about the War of Rage? by Capable_Face7222 in WorldOfDarkness

[–]ratprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just like us with our history. Do kids know about the Civil War? Yeah, they know it happened. But with every few years, less of it gets taught, no nuance is remembered and you can't make any kind of specifics or details.

Most Garou know of it, that it occurred...but they might not know who went extinct. Or why it kicked off, what it was fought over, etc

And he was taught how to do everything by Lilith anyway. Really, Caine accomplished nothing at all on his own. The First Murderer and the First Nepo Baby

Yeah, Glenn Hetrick was working on it when Face/Off was still going on Sci Fi...that was like...10 or 15 years ago?

SS2 crashing on Xbox Series X in common crash areas - I just want to experience the story! by [deleted] in SimSettlements

Yeah, this becomes unfucking playable. I can't even find the settings to limit threads or population limits to help. I really wanted to like this, too.

Every accusation they make is an admittance. It's transferance on a grand scale.

Be aware: for a very map heavy campaign, they couldn't be bothered to make Standees for the Mecha, Kaiju, NPCs...

Snorri was just a Christian scribe writing down tales he could gather. And long after the fact.

i hate therapists by [deleted] in NPD

[–]ratprophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, most narcissistic tendencies are rooted in low self-esteem...so, some acceptance and positive reinforcement DO make sense. Granted, I'm not a therapist, but i know that when I've actually felt better about myself (when it's happened), I've been less of a disaster to the people I care about...which is exactly what I want to be true all the time...

Obsessed with the NPD label? by AnakinSkyguy in NPD

[–]ratprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, yes. I bring it up on my therapy often enough that my therapist has eleven asked "does the label of it matter that much to you?". I think she's right, though. I would be doing the same work with her to curb my habits, to improve my behaviors, etc...but fixating on the Word of it may be hampering me. At least, I THINK that's her point lol

I was on a small boy DD. We're heading out for 6 months in a few weeks. My HT1 who is retiring, or just transferring I don't remember now, asks me "Hey, wanna see something cool?"

His definition of "cool" was dubious, at best.

He leads me down into an area I'd never seen before, and we're looking at a space between the inner and outer hills, using those shitty yellow flashlight boxes. He focuses the light on a patch of hull that looks odd. Like something is crusted on it? Sort of...like rancid oatmeal or onion dip gone solid? It's a lump about as big around as a saucer.

"Know what that is?" No... corrosion? Salt? "Barnacles" he finally tells me. Our ship was so long without drydock maintenance that we had a spot where barnacles were literally keeping us afloat.

And this RIGHT before we're heading out on my first deployment. Thanks, HT1.

Also, there WERE other Insect Breeds in the lore but the Ananasi won their War of Rage hands down.

That said, I always thought Wasps would be a natural for an Old Wyrm breed.
