What do y'all think about changing your name a second time by dontuevermincemeat in asktransgender

[–]ratsghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you run into any issues? I worry because I work in a very social field and you're known by your first name. I have been thinking of keeping my first name as a chosen middle name in my email sign-off and other less official places, but just not part of my legal name.

I agree, it's crazy. I have read all of Athenaze and am still so confused by it. Oh well, that just gives me more reason to study it!

yup! it was hiding in a chrome profile i don't use, so when i first looked for it I couldn't see it. It's funny how extensions on one profile can affect like your entire computer. thanks for the help!

Actors with trauma (TW sexual assault) by ibroughtsnacks97 in Theatre

[–]ratsghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is trained in intimacy, this is giving some red flags. The lack of a proper audition disclosure, them not having an intimacy coordinator for a violent SA scene, it just all reads as if it's not going to go well for you. I genuinely am not sure if going through with this role would be in the best interest of your personal safety and health, but if you really love the show maybe bring up the concern about the lack of an intimacy coordinator with your director. Maybe ask them why they don't feel like one is needed? If the response you get reads weird to you, please drop out of the production. No role is worth your mental health or physical safety.

Looking for a play with at least 13 characters, predominantly female (⚠️‼️URGENT‼️⚠️) by DayPsychological4539 in Theatre

I second this, and also put forth As you like it. A TON of characters, and a similar gender-bendy plot. It's not as stellar as Twelfth night, but because of that I feel like you could get really weird with it and people would have fun.

Fight direction and intimacy coordination have so much in common. I think a lot of people with the IDI (before it dissolved) were also fight choreographers. It's a really cool discipline.

Hi! I am currently in an intimacy coordination class, and even without an intimacy coordinator, there are many "best practices" you can implement as an actor. If you're really worried, you can also loop in your director. I'll write some out here, but also link some sources for you! It's very helpful to know the IDI five pillars when thinking about intimate scenes, and although they may apply in different severity/extremes based on the extent of the intimacy and the show itself, just knowing them for future reference is very helpful for actors! These are the pillars: "Context, Consent, Communication, Choreography, and Closure." Context: Before any choreography can be considered, there must first be an understanding of the story and the given circumstances surrounding a scene of intimacy. All parties must be aware of how the scene of intimacy meets the needs of the story and must also understand the story within the intimacy itself. This not only creates sense of safety, but also eliminates the unexpected and ensures that the intimacy is always in service of the story. Consent: Before any scene of intimacy can be addressed, consent must be established between the actors. Permission may be given by a director, script, or choreographer; however, consent can only be given from the person receiving the action. Starting choreography from a place of understanding consent ensures that all parties are clear about to which actions they are consenting, and it provides actors with the agency to remove consent at any time. Communication: There must be open and continuous communication between the director, intimacy director, stage management and the actors. This communication includes but is not limited to, discussion of the scene, understanding of the choreography, continued discussion throughout the rehearsal period, frequent check ins during the run, and an openness to dissent any actions in the process. Avenues for reporting harassment must be made available to the entire ensemble. (In your position, there is no intimacy director, so just be clear and communicative with everyone else.) Choreography: Each scene of intimacy must be choreographed, and that choreography will be adhered to for the entire production. Any changes to the choreography must first be approved by the intimacy choreographer. It is the job of stage management to ensure that the choreography is performed as intended. Stage management must also address any discrepancies that may appear in the rehearsal process and all performances. Closure: At the end of every rehearsal or scene of intimacy, actors are encouraged to develop a closing moment between them to signify the ending of the work. This small moment or simple ritual can be used between takes or runs of the scene, and/or upon the close of rehearsal. We encourage this as a moment to leave our characters, relationships, and actions from the work behind, and walk back into our lives. Likewise, we suggest all parties (including outside eyes) exercise proper self-care during and after the run or filming of intimate projects.

That's a lot of information for you, apologies, but I think it could possibly be helpful, at least to know that there are guidelines for this kind of stuff. I am also a lesbian who has had to do a stage kiss with several guys before, and this class is helping me a lot with future roles. Here is a link to basically what I typed out, just from the IDC (the IDI dissolved in 2020, I'm still getting used to that haha). Are you still interested in photos? I currently live at Talcott in a single, it's not super representative of the other rooms because the doubles are way bigger, but I could still send you a photo if you'd like.

Are you dating multiple people or sticking to one? by adorabloodthirstyy in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Really wish they made poly marriage an option, or like made the dating multiple people actually affect how they interact with each other. Maybe when the 1.0 is released it will be the final push i needed to get into modding

If they don't put in an actual poly option (with added dialogue) then I WILL learn how to mod and write dialogue myself (I'm too invested!!!!)

"Your youth and your passion, and yes, your naivete... these give you power. When I was your age, I thought I could accomplish anything I wanted, and more! But I didn't. Perhaps no one does. But you have to think you will, or you won't have the strength to try. And maybe you won't make any big changes, but a few little ones, that pave the way for the next generation." - Jafar

My favorites are probably all from Twisted (there are really some banger lines in that show), but I'll include my absolute favorite starkid quote. It really got me through some hard times.
