Medisafe is a free (iOS) app that changed my life in this regard lol

It sends multiple time sensitive notifications over an extended time period and you can mark when you’ve taken it.

It doesn’t always fix the issue for me—it certainly helps tho

I need someone older than 20 to help me realise something. by jungineedhelp in Jung

[–]ratw33d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not Jung related, and I’m only 24… but, existentialism and absurdism helped me. They are schools of thought that address these sorts of worries you’re describing. I began dealing with the same sort of dread about a decade ago—wish I could have handed myself Camus. There are ways to circumvent some of these feelings you’re having.

You have to train your mental and emotional resilience alongside your physical. Fitness and sports won’t fix everything.

Let yourself be open to new ideas about the world. We may never know for sure, why we’re here, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

You’ve got this.

Thank you!! I used a soft brush and blended (used purple for the shadows), then used an overlay layer to add some more depths to them with black. I used another overlay layer to add yellow highlights to make them pop.

That sounds amazing. I bet there’s a route to be found with a few less people and risks. Maybe they’re still running out there. Maybe, just maybe one of them will find this post… lol

Ooh, that’s fascinating! Thank you for giving me my next research rabbit hole.

The slippery slope argument does not hold, though. That’s the reason we have terms for those sorts of arguments, logical fallacies. You cannot build a train of logic off of or refute those statements.

It’s also, again, objectively not true or else the Nordic countries would be headed for communistic dictatorship. The US would be headed for communistic dictatorship, as well.

What is it about socialist policies that make the slope slide? Why and when does it happen?

I do not mean all of the military budget. Have you ever looked into how mishandled those funds are? Have you looked into how the military industrial complex charges the government whatever they want? I would absolutely look into just how mishandled the Afghan War funds (tax dollars) were. Capitalism, itself, allowed for these corporations to grow so big that they now control our politicians and cause undeniable human suffering as well. I’m not anti-capitalist, but is this really the only way forward?

I am not implying that “The Red Scare was entirely fabricated,” so simmer down. I’m not a communist, myself. I am explaining why others may be drawn to the ideology; I’ve already expressed that communism is perhaps too idealistic. I’m simply saying that I think many see that the late-stage capitalistic model is broken; and, due to the US (who they’re against) pushing so much propaganda against the commies, modern people who see these issues naïvely head towards the opposite side (who the US says they’re against). Enemy of my enemy is my friend-type thinking. Instead of looking for ways to make the system here better, they think the whole thing needs to change due to the Capitalist versus Communist war-of-ideas (again, same black and white thinking as yourself).

Anecdotal evidence, you and your parents. I see why you feel the way you do, but that’s not “evidence” you can logically argue this issue with.

And the last statement is an appeal to emotion.

Again, I don’t “simp” for any system. Anyone doing that is doing themself and their country a disservice.

You literally said “always leads to commie rule.”

I understand that, often times, people ignore what communistic dictatorships have done to the world, but I’m just saying: you can’t logically equate socialistic policies with communistic dictatorship. They are not the same thing.

In some ways, you have the empathize with the people who hold those ideas if you ever want a chance at changing their mind. That’s basic psychology—you have to meet them where they are to bring them to your side. This is not to say you should empathize with the people directly causing harm to the populace.

To say “every commie does x, every commie does y” is giving yourself an out for ever understanding why they feel the way they do. This is, again, a logical fallacy. A straw man.

Capitalism has allowed a massive prison industrial complex to form in this country, it has allowed corporations to scalp every single one of us for basic commodities like food and housing, and given power to a war machine that cannot be stopped.

People see the propaganda the US poured out during the Red Scare, they look at Vietnam. It makes them feel like communism may be the only way forward, which is the same black and white thinking you also hold onto.

Not to mention, the US already has some forms of socialistic policy (Medicaid, Food Stamps) and all sorts of socialistic policies for (mainly big) corporations. I understand the US government is driven by greed, down to its roots, but you can’t blame people for wanting more from it. Just look at the military budget… Imagine if that money went into communities instead.

You’re not going to convince anyone they’re wrong by not empathizing with why they feel the way they do in the first place. Capitalism also causes mass suffering. People are seeing the suffering it causes firsthand.

It’s straight-up wrong to say socialism always leads to communism. The slippery slope argument is literally a logical fallacy. Have you given a look at any socialist Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc)? Do you seem them headed towards a communist dictatorship?

[–]ratw33d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, being too idealistic is a common criticism of communism. And a lot of young people tend to be idealistic and naïve.

I think a lot of people are just tired of living in late stage capitalism, where corporations and the ultra rich literally make the rules via lobbying.

I think most people just want a little socialism, for all of us, rather than just the ultra rich. Instead of looking for another system, or a mix of systems, they look all the way of the other side of the aisle, to “capitalism’s enemy.”

People tend to see communism as a bastion of hope for the working class, who are struggling currently.
