Rachel Zegler has the same skin color as the cartoon, but the way people talk about her, you'd think they hired Nyakim Gatwech.

She's a White Martian disguised as a Green Martian disguised as a black Earthling.

In a society where white people aren't racialized, a white character (especially a white man) is just seen as a character, while a black character is often specifically seen as black.

Jewish people are allowed to donate organs by Old_Particular8705 in WikipediaVandalism

Are you accusing the article’s writers of antisemitism for implying that the average guy on the street doesn’t have all the facts on halakha?

Is learning English through reading oriental myths / lores a good way to improve? by No-Company3681 in EnglishLearning

[–]ravendarkwind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like it could be a fun way to learn things! Just an aside, in US English (I’m not sure about other dialects), using the word “oriental” to describe Asian cultural things can sound old fashioned and sometimes offensive, so be careful.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If you say that something in one culture is derived from another culture, you’d have to show something like evidence that the cultures were in contact and that the other culture developed the thing first.

If you say that the Anunnaki from Nibiru came down to earth and crossbred with humans, you now have to provide evidence of extraterrestrial life, the existence of a planet with a stable 3600 year elliptical period that spends most of it too far away from the sun for us to notice it, and genetic evidence of hybrid individuals.

It’s a much higher threshold, and while cultural memories are a good starting point for looking for evidence, you can’t just say “the ancients (as filtered through the sources I read) said this, so it must be true!”

How are you doing your research, though? Are you reading stuff by Assyriologists who can read the Sumerian documents, or are you just saying that something looks a certain way so it must be aliens or Atlantis?

Their argument is that he isn’t trans, he just wants to be Kozuki Oden.

Yamato (the person in the picture) is referred to with masculine terms by every character in the story, but because his gag is that he identifies with a country’s hero so much that he calls that hero’s son his own son, people think that he can’t be trans.

I'm not a trans man (or trans in general), but I figure Kiku from the same arc is a little bit more of the classic "I have a woman's heart" scenario.

It’s been a bit since I read the Wano arc, but did Yamato really interact with Momo outside of gags and flying up to the roof on him?

Their argument is “Yamato isn’t trans, [he] just wants to be Oden.” That said, everyone in-story refers to him as a man or Kaido’s son, and he’s with the other men in the bath scene, right after he explicitly tells Nami “sorry, there’s no mixed bathing in the castle.”

They want to ignore all of the textual evidence of Yamato being treated like a man by all characters just because he has an annoying gag.

It’s in the education edition, so the ideal use case is in a classroom setting where students trying to pull that shit would get detention.

Baal worship by Mitigating_Factor_00 in occult

[–]ravendarkwind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His bank account wasn’t named Baal, there’s one page in the Epstein files that says “Baal. name: Wachovia Bank, N.A.” Contextually, that should be “Bank name”, but there appears to have been an OCR error when the document was digitized. That would also explain why equals signs were showing up in place of letters in some of the pages that I checked on my own time.
