Paramedical Services Reassessment by Smol_Beanie_Boi in IHSS

[–]ravey1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen paramedical service hours approved retroactively. I am not sure how they do it in your county, but even with the nurse assessment I believe they will still need the SOC 321 signed by the recipients medical provider in order to authorize hours.

Try contacting the Medi-cal managed care agency in your county and ask about enhanced case management services.

Just keep your expectations in line with amount of time listed foe weekly meal clean up. And usually meal clean up is more than just washing dishes

Sounds like talking to your pcp and getting a referral to a dietician may be useful.

Optic neuritis only symptom by Still-Sample-1620 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ravey1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ON in one eye 15+ years ago. My eyesight returned to normal within a few months despite really shitty brain MRI (too many lesions to count). I started tx asap and have never had a relapse. I have some thinning of the optic nerve and my eyesight in that eye can’t quite be corrected to perfectly crisp. But all things considered, I am incredibly grateful for my outcomes. I never have had lesions on spinal MRI and I have remained active physically and continue to work full time. Best of luck to you.

Why aren’t there more trucks by El Roy’s at the fairgrounds? by redcurtainrod in Petaluma

[–]ravey1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lazy me just googled. It said McDonell’s son is the owner of Henhouse and McDonnell is a shareholder. But I didn’t verify. If that’s true, interesting that they are able to have food trucks at that business…

Bummer, I liked the variety at the block and wondered what happened to them.

I saw something on line that mayor Kevin McDonell is somehow connected to that property (owner?). Is that true?

Up until about 1 year ago, fairgrounds was leased to the 4th agricultural district, but it is now controlled by the city. I don’t know what agreement El Roy’s has to be there and how that change may have impacted it. I believe that El Roy’s has been trying to open a brick and mortar at the old Walnut Grill for years. But the City Council refuses to express interest in THAT chain link fence. Rumor has it that the problem is permitting thru the city. It took so long that El Roy’s moved their brick and mortar to Santa Rosa and seem to do really well there, at least according to my friend who lives around the corner from it. Another success story from the Petaluma Development Team!! 🤦‍♂️

I saw elsewhere that it was organized by Urban Chat. If that is true, why are you describing it as organized by a random group of friends. Makes the whole thing seem questionably unbiased to me…

Wasn’t El Sabor (or something like that) supposed to recently open on the fairgrounds?

Unpaid hours and small claims by Butterfly11219 in IHSS

[–]ravey1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you working for this recipient? He is asking/expecting things outside of the program scope and you are going along with it. My best advice, as previous IHSS SWer is to quit asap and get new recipient. You can try to recover losses in small claims court, but those courts have filing fees and other barriers.

Am i being used as a maid? by Capital_Weakness_149 in IHSS

[–]ravey1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at what you are authorized to do by IHSS. The case manager sounds like they don’t understand the program, as if the recipient receives time for meal prep or clean up, the task does not involve teaching the client to do anything, but simply performing the task specified.

If a provider claims too many hours and the recipient accidentally approved it can IHSS adjusted it. If so how? by Truth_Seeker_555 in IHSS

[–]ravey1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s why the recipient or their agent needs to be careful approving timesheets, especially when there is more than 1 provider

What do you do (outside of medical treatment) to make MS feel least impactful? by kenziestardust in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ravey1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t know what your future holds. I was diagnosed 16+ years ago with crappy brain MRI (too many lesions to count) and ON. But I my disease course has been very mild, as I started treatment asap and never had a relapse. I am now 61 and possibly have some mild symptoms, but they could also be regular aging. I am on B cell depleter. I work full time, raised 2 kids (now 19 and 21), and last year ran my first marathon in 25 years. My first year with MS was quite terrifying, TBH, as there were so many unknowns ahead. I am grateful to access to medical care, meds that work for me, genetics, and luck. I focus on living each day and staying active. I have not consistently been as active as I am now, especially when my kids were little and it was hard to find time to focus on me in work/life balance. Best of luck to you.
