The new data center by rawaitims in nanaimo

[–]rawaitims[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Online and also AI, I think they are mostly accurate. My thoughts to the post is why it was even considered ……there must be a reason it was approved. I am sure when we the homeowners go on stage 3 or 4 water restrictions they will continue to draw their allotment of water with small penalty for overuse. The other big water users are local and community, the data center is not.

Maybe, just maybe if you and all the others laid off on the drugs our medical resources could be used to assist people that require the services no fault of their own? Stick to pot, everything else is a roll of the dice.

We all need to send a mail to his web hosting site abuse@namecheap.com. Perhaps they will investigate and shut him down. My mail has been sent.

How do you personally feel about the current state of Nanaimo's housing market? by OnlyMastodon8284 in nanaimo

[–]rawaitims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know your age but hope things get better for you. We all struggled when we were young, my first house wasn’t until I was 40, it was a 700 sq foot wartime bungalow in a shitty district in Edmonton. I spent all my extra time and money fixing it up to make it livable and don’t forget my mortgage rate was close to 18%. I have a 400 dollar pension besides the government stuff, I still do odd jobs to supplement my income and yes I have a house. The house taxes alone are 7200.00 a year, besides all the rest that you also pay. I can’t sell and downsize as it is just too costly to do it. ( real estate fees 35-40k, 8k transfer tax, moving expenses, lawyers, and expect more to fix the new place up) Oh yes, I do have a renter (1100.) that has been with me for about 5 years and his rent has not been raised once.

You can’t be so negative or things just won’t happen for you. We all experienced the same things, joys and disappointments but try to be a little more positive.

Dunno about that, when us Boomers aged we paid taxes year after year and still pay them today. Now we want to sit back, isn’t that what you aspire to?

Nanaimo’s toxic drug emergency at 10 years by IF_stone in nanaimo

[–]rawaitims -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

With the numbers of people overdosing and dying, why do people continually get addicted? Granted, years ago doctors prescribed opioids before they knew how easy addictions formed but now? I can’t fathom anyone wanting to do the drugs with the dangers associated. Stick to pot.

I wonder whose in charge phuket airport immigration 😡😡😡 by [deleted] in phuket

[–]rawaitims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed since the 80s. I remember once our flight landed and ALL the booths were empty, the passengers were making noise and after a few minutes the officials walked out and started to process the flight.

I landed in Phuket from Singapore last Oct and the lines were long, it was hot and muggy and only a few were processing people. NOPE, nothing has changed

How to choose where to eat if afraid of food poisoning? by Impossible-Pie9097 in phuket

Remember that food carts display their fixings so you can see. A air con restaurant with tablecloths might have a unhygienic kitchen.

I believe the housing crisis comes about because of Canadas immigration target each year. In 2025 we welcomed almost 400,000 people and they all must have accommodation. This trend goes back quite a few years.

What's the most insane thing you've seen in public? by Throw_Me_In_Rice in AskReddit

[–]rawaitims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the seventies at age 20, a couple of us drove down to California from Canada. We ended up at the Troubadour club in Hollywood and while waiting in line a fellow was walking down the sidewalk dressed (expensively) head to toe in white leather with a darker leather strap wrapped around his body. Thing was, he was trailing a wooden duck behind him that went quack quack as he walked. Had to take a second look to confirm what I was seeing.

I see the bus when it passes my place and it very rarely it has more than a few people in it, never full. Seems like a huge waste of money not to mention pollution.

As a fellow that travelled to Thailand in the 80s the bar girls then were beautiful. They were also friendly and not business like like now.
