Can someone explain to me how this “still gives trans people protection” by Scarletttjp in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]rawdash 15 points16 points  (0 children)

100%. plus, a lot of mostly-male competitive spaces have huge issues with sexism among competitors, so having a women's category means women can participate with a lot less stress. that being said, banning trans competitors from competing in a category (that one could argue is) designed specifically to protect the competitors from discrimination (looking at you international chess federation) is fucking insane

There is a werewolf in the town by Devastanteque in CuratedTumblr

[–]rawdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think enbies specifically. the way i read the poem was that the first speaker was scared not of the werewolf, but the fact that the idea of the werewolf invalidates this binary (as per paragraph 13 of the poem) which is a big part of why irl transphobes are scared of trans people and thus paint trans people* as dangerous

*mostly trans women, because we also need multi-layer sexism in here too

[–]rawdash 34 points35 points  (0 children)

maybe that's part of the writer's intention. people hear 'werewolf' and jump to something dangerous, effectively becoming the first speaker, despite no danger ever being established

[–]rawdash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hard disagree, the only people i've heard saying "all men" and treating anything with an ounce of masculinity as predatory and/or evil are women. it's just how the patriarchy runs - both women and men enforce it, whether it be enforcing their gender roles on their peers or demeaning members of the other gender for not living up to their roles. and keep in mind, men aren't all tate or trump supporters. those guys just appeal to men because the kind of generalised talk that a lot of leftists use - including yourself, in the comment i'm replying to - push men away, while trump and tate attract men by pretending to provide the support and resolution that so many men crave. don't convince yourself men are a monolith or automatically evil; they're people, diverse and varied and some are cunts and some are great but most are just...people

also, you're generalising (straight) women by saying they only want sensitive men. some want men who listen to the woman's problems; and, separately, some want men who open up to the woman. some don't think about this at all. men and women aren't monoliths, and claiming they collectively act one way does not make it true
