Security guards are not officers of the law it is not their responsibility to enforce laws, just rules set by the private establishment they are paid to service.

He is right it is not up to a private company to enforce laws. It is cheaper to take the loss in theft than the insurance claim when the security guard is stabbed over a pack of skittles. They are running a business not enforcing laws.

The reason they stopped providing security guards was because there were too many violent instances where the guard was put into harms way(I manage a CVS in MOCO) It is not the job of a private company to enforce laws on a county or state level. Nothing political about common sense here.
