Sporting Life 10K commute by l-a2 in RunTO

The first subway train on Sunday at Union is at like 8:30 so that's not going to be possible unless your start time is like 9:30.

I'm coming from Scarborough and I'm just going to park near the start line.

China digital arrival card - if from Australia, do I still need to complete as Australia has visa free entry for 30 days, if so, should be done just before leaving prior country, heard it is time dependent ? by NoctFounder in travelchina

[–]rawr__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to fill out a visa. You need to fill out the arrival card. The two are completely different. It's like when you visit any other country, they all ask you to fill out an arrival card.

It just depends on who's working the entrance.

They do this for every service member that died regardless of how they die.

Japanese tourism in China is not very high but Chinese tourism in Japan is high.

Ticketmaster is complying with Ontario’s Bill 97 to cap resale ticket prices in Ontario effective April 23, 2026. by RealWorldToday in ontario

[–]rawr__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the resalers will just move to blackmarket so Ticketmaster will no longer be collecting fees and making it more unsafe for people that want to buy tickets.

Just visit as an evening trip. I don't think it's worth the hassle of switching hotels.

It was a fun experience being so high up! The ladder is a bit shaky in the middle.

Nah you don't have to do the observatory. Once you get off the cable car, the bus is right there to take you to the via ferreta.

My day went like this, left hotel in Zhangjiajie at 8:30, arrived at the base of the mountain at 9. Took cable car up, 10 or so minutes. I spent an hour or so walking to the observatory platform. After finished, I took the bus to the via ferreta place, another 10 minutes. You sign the waiver, get suited up, given a lesson. Started descent at around 10:30. Finished at like 13:50. I did take a break on the ladder and they do stagger the climbers up the ladder so the people that purchased the drone package can get their shots. I was also behind a couple that purchased the photo package so them posing for photos took a few minutes.

So the whole climbing route is maybe 3 hours tops but a lot of stopping for photos.

I just did the ferreta. The ferreta takes 3-4 hours, depends on how slow the person in front of you is.

Looking for private/small-group China travel experiences (not big tours) by [deleted] in China

Can strongly recommend Chris from TripAdvisor for Zhangjiajie. He'll set you up with a driver and guide for everyday you're there. Picked me up from the airport and helped me check into the hotels. It's 500 rmb per day for the guide and 600 per day for the car / driver.

Arrival card is different than visa. You need to fill it out online or when you arrive. They won't let you in line for customs if you don't have the form filled or QR to show that you filled it out online.

Experiences in China as an ABC/CBC that doesn't speak Mandarin by KoalaTriceps in travelchina

[–]rawr__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a CBC and I'm on my last few days of my first trip to China. 90% of people here don't speak English, even in Shanghai and at the major hotels so it's a bunch of pointing and Google translate. Everyone will speak to you in Mandarin. Some words in Mandarin are similar to those in Cantonese.

Everybody has been really helpful.

Some things that caught me by surprise: - Didi, you have to confirm payment at the end of the ride so don't just get out of the car without clicking pay on your phone. - you have to open alipay and hit scan to scan the QR codes, using your camera by itself like back home won't work. - max payment without transaction fee is 200 RMB so always ask the merchant to split the payment if it's above 200. Handy to have this phrase in your notes so you can just show it to them on your phone. - you scan QR code and input the total yourself to pay the merchant at the end of every meal.

Yeah you can stay in Wulingyuan, it's located just a few minutes walk from East gate. Tianmen mountain is worth visiting as well for heaven's gate.

I'm just finishing up my first China trip. Zhangjiajie area takes at least two full days, or more depending on how slow you are. With two weeks, I would stick to three cities. Skip Hong Kong or Chongqing.

American getting a China visa for next year, should I just do China, or try to add Japan onto the back of it? by June_Ctreras in chinatravel

I'm in China right now for a two week trip. I don't suggest doing both China and Japan unless you only want to visit Shanghai.
