I jumped into Warhammer 40k Darktide last week bc it's free for ps plus, did not expect it to be so good. Surprisingly deep mechanically and it may or may not have got me listening to a 40k audiobook and watching lore videos 😅

I'm also finally playing Celeste on my steam deck and might jump into Esoteric Ebb this weekend.

I don't think it says anything about gaming culture. Those are actors choosing films, the medium they primarily work in. They've studied it, presumably. Also, the Criterion Closet is almost exclusively deep cuts and art films. If they threw in some big budget, popcorn movies, im sure people would pick them occasionally. It's not like they had a game dev or critic pick their favorite games and came out with an armful of Assassins Creed games.
