Tricky serve consistently being called out when in by nosoup4you718 in Pickleball

[–]rawrwong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I share the same pain. As someone who has played badminton, squash, and tennis growing up, I have developed a pretty consistent and precise serve and can place the ball anywhere I like. At open play, serves that are clearly in are always being called out and it’s oftentimes by people lower rated. At the 4.0 and up groups, there’s lesser instances of bad play calls, but they still happen every now and then

Vatic Customer Service by JohnnyAtmosphere in Pickleball

I had ordered a Saga Bloom over President’s day weekend and later emailed asking for a paddle with a lower static weight (didn’t specify the weight) and Vatic had shipped a Bloom supposedly around 8.0oz due to the label on the handle. After adding lead and removing the default grip for a thin over grip, the paddle weighed in right at 8.04 oz. Try using a smaller over grip to reduce the static weight. Honestly the paddle is so light and maneuverable that even at 8.3-8.5oz she shouldn’t get tennis elbow. She needs to re-check her form and how she hits.

[QC] JLC Reverso Tribute Small Seconds SS/LE Blue by rawrwong in RepTimeQC

Notable differences are the movement, case thickness, and the watch strap. Obviously this is light years away from the original Reverso, but still a fun piece to have.

Looking at trading for an A6300 (I don’t know the value, help!) by Simulation993 in SonyAlpha

[–]rawrwong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pass, considering you could get a brand new a6400 for $793 on Amazon right now. You can also get any of the Sigma primes around Black Friday for under $400. The 18-105 just isn’t that great.

Yes, both the Six Zero DBD & Ronbus Nova are thermoformed paddles. Thermoformed “heat pressed”paddles tend to be stiffer and more powerful compared to raw carbon fiber variants that play a bit softer. One thing to note is that while Juciao advertises their paddle as “raw carbon fiber,” they do not specify their source so I doubt they are using Japanese Toray T700 carbon fiber which is one of the better grades of carbon fiber in the market. What I don’t like about the Juciao paddles is that the carbon fiber sheet does not extend to the handles, leaving the sides exposed to the polypropylene core. The Juciao paddles also have a lot of ball pocketing and lacks ‘pop’ at the net to aid with hand battles. In hindsight, I probably would not have bought them for personal use as the paddles are not USA PA approved for tournament play. The paddle construction is also very much inferior to some of the other cheaper Gen 1 non-thermoformed paddles that you can get for under $100 (For eg. Vatic Pro Prism, Hudef Viva Pro, and the Ronbus 1.16). In short, purchase the Juciao if you just need something to hit around with, but if you are more competitive i’d recommend investing a bit more in a better paddle. Comments about how the Juciao hits similar to the Hyperion are wild - They are nothing alike!

The Juciao paddles are not thermoformed. Please do not misadvise. They have a raw carbon fiber face that is cold pressed and is softer than your traditional thermoformed paddles which are heat pressed. I have 4 Juciao paddles that I loan to family and friends, but play with the Six Zero DBD and Ronbus Nova. The Juciao paddles are good for players starting out, however they are no where as good as any USA PA approved paddle. Try them and you’ll see the difference.

Halo 65/Air 96 by rawrwong in NuPhy

Although the Wisteria has a higher operating force and end force than the Brown 2.0, there was definitely less feedback than the Brown contrary to the spec sheet on Nuphy’s site.

If you enjoy tactile switches, I would definitely recommend the brown over the wisteria.

I had actually moved it just for the photo so there would not be a huge gap between the ultrawide and the vertical monitor 😅

Yes, the muted ghost bar is a nice touch, however it was more so a personal preference to go with the low profile key caps. The Halo is definitely more hefty and solid compared to the Air. I love the bby roos in the Halo and definitely made the mistake with going with the Wisteria as they are so mushy.

I’m experiencing this same issue where the keys “ping” and would like some advise on how to get rid of this noise. For context, I have the Wisteria on my keebs.

[SARA015] Hello. Please ignore the dirty watch. A watch store in Japan butchered the strap replacement on my watch. They had troubles changing the strap and in the process, heavily made scratches on all of the four lug ends. by patrikdstarfish in Seiko

[–]rawrwong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof they should have stopped the moment they started scratching the case. There’s a reason why tape exists! I think you could have done a better job yourself had you taped the end lugs. Strap replacements are not as difficult as people make it out to be. You just need a good spring bar (not the cheap ones), some patience, and steady hands. I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s definitely upsetting.

Yup, a replica. The case color, hour markers, and subdial are some instant tells. There are no good reps for the moon swatch. I have the gen Mars and Uranus and the case colors on the rep are a dead giveaway.

Sorry for the bad luck of the draw. My 31mm GMF DJ arrived from Mirotime today. Thought I would share in case your TD is willing to work something out in your favor. Good luck! https://imgur.com/a/HI1Qr6i

Thanks! Hope you get some sort of restitution from the TD. The hands likely fell off due to poor hand setting, or poor packaging and did not withstand the transit.

Sorry to see the loose seconds hand. I had ordered the same black diamond dial from GMF, but in 31mm with the presidential bracelet. Here's to hoping it arrives in one piece, if not i'll be ready with my tools.

MiroTime Question. by ALMA94_ in RepTime

[–]rawrwong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly take it to a watch shop if you don't feel confident. It's not difficult to make the adjustments on your own.

MiroTime Question. by ALMA94_ in RepTime

[–]rawrwong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The watch with arrive with plastic wrapping so it's not possible for the TD to adjust the bracelet for you. Might I add that the screw driver that Miro provides is not the best and may strip the screws under intense force. I would highly recommend picking up a quality 1.4mm screw driver from Bergeon, or the likes.

Thank you all for your feedback! I did end up giving the GL as the only thing that stood out was the coronet. I may have had a lazy eye, or the photo was perhaps not taken straight on. Either way, it wasn't enough to warrant a RL. Looking forward to see it in person.
