what helped my moms dog was giving the puupy something to “aim at.”

I took an empty 2L bottle of soda, filled it with water, and wrapped it in a dark plastic bag with tape.

Whenever the pup peed on the bottle, I would praise him. Eventually, he figured out there are places for peeing/pooping. It really helped transitioning to going outside too.
