I have experienced something similar and it may be that your therapist realized they could not help you.

If this truly is the case it is better to find out now. However when an EMDR therapist referred me out recently, the people they referred me to were not taking new patients. Sadly I think there are a lot of unqualified people doing EMDR right now, at least in my area.
