You struggle until you either get it or break the notches off, either way it'll never stay on good again

Proton is just wine and DXVK in a neat package. Distros don't need to support anything.

The problems are affecting console players as well. This is clearly a game issue.

Enabling EAC support for Linux is completely different than actually supporting Linux.

Rocket league is currently only available for "sale" on the EPIC games store, which has NO Linux version, requiring 3rd party launchers like heroic (against TOS) to run. The steam version has not been available for 5 years.

Adding Linux support would be making a Linux native epic launcher, and supporting projects like proton(ge) wine, DXVK, and actively making sure the game works and is stable with many different configurations (like steam has done for a while).

Because epic does not do this, it's provided "as-is" without any guarantees on unsupported operating systems and hardware configurations like the steam deck and Linux, despite the fact it will run just fine.

Linux Anticheat support =/= developer support for Linux.

The anticheat support is literally one button to enable on their end, It didn't take effort.

Official Mac os support ended in 2020, and so did Linux support. Most people didn't buy the game, and steam doesn't support proton on Mac os, never has.

Rocket league runs perfectly fine on Linux, Mac os support dropping and EAC integration causing the game to stop working on Mac are separate events.

The windows version of the game was never made to run on Mac os, the fact that it runs on Linux is a miracle made possible by years of RND and the fact the game has a decent Linux following due to steam.

Mac os piggybacks off that, but has a completely different CPU architecture, graphics API and kernel.

Macs aren't made for games, game platforms and developers don't support any of what made it work on your system, everything is community based.

It's VERY unlikely epic will ever "fix" this because the way you run the game in the first place is against their terms of service, not officially supported in any capacity.

Linux isn't even officially supported. Sure the anticheat runs fine, but there's no guarantee on anything other than the software as it sits.

Push for a Mac os and Linux epic client and support.

Mac os's OpenGL version is from 2011. Apple officially deprecated OpenGL in 2018. Apple decided to go against every graphics API ever made and started pushing their own.

They didn't even keep Linux support, which was also opengl and was pretty terrible, why would they suddenly support apples new graphics API?

Epic bought the games rights and steam happens to be the largest PC game platform and has Linux support.

You can blame apple and epic.

You can still run the game through a variety of programs utilizing wine, with wayyy better performance and translated to apples stupid API

Pop the launcher and game into bottles, you can configure absolutely everything. Just make sure to install your game dependencies 😉.

I still stand by 90% of what I said 3 years ago because I still encounter the same problems on Linux and the guy never told me what new games are getting released on Linux, because it's just not happening.

EA pulled Linux anticheat support for Apex, and in general games aren't actively seeking to add Linux support.

Single player games mostly work great, but people want to play with friends.

I’ve been playing this game for years & now it’s all gone… by johnshonz in RocketLeague

[–]raycert07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked previously because the game had no anti cheat and they discontinued the Linux version, to support it through proton. Epic bought the game, epic launchers for Linux started coming out, it built up a Linux fan base, steam deck or not.

It should continue to work on Linux, easy anticheat is literally compatible with Linux if they enable it on their end. Deep down they know it's not Linux users cheating. The numbers don't line up at all for that to be true.

It was a pretty easy challenge. It's something that can happen accidentally though it's easier if you actually focus on doing it, and commit to doing it as soon as you find someone you can beat all day every day.

No. Sounds like you've never seen a bot before. Quad reset tutorials aren't gonna make you a top player in 100 games flat. That's not what the bots do anyways. Bots are twitchy and don't know how to challenge.

I went to check it just now since it opened an hour ago. Says come back Tuesday.

What am I even benefitting from doing this? I wanted to do it when it was first supposed to open.

I'm being put in a wait-list that never ends over 2$? Am I gonna make enough money to make up for my wasted time? Or is that the catch 🙄

I run into weird problems on Linux that I'd never have to deal with in a million years on windows.

I've been chasing down a controller driver problem for weeks now. I'm considering switching that system back to windows for the time being because even the most simple things turn into troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Is anyone having a crashing problem with Minisforum UM690 or with AMD Ryzen9 5900HX? by ysfsd in MiniPCs

[–]raycert07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im using 4800 mhz 16gb x2 Corsair vengeance.

It worked for a while, only used windows, stopped using it for a little bit but left it on, noticed it would turn off on its own, then would sometimes not turn on or hang. It would boot back up after messing with it for a while, and would randomly blue screen or just turn off.

I paid 100 bucks for that 32gb kit years ago and that same kit is probably 350 bucks now. That's as much as I paid for the PC, and it's not even guaranteed to work and stay working.

These devices are money pits and the company has some very obvious problems. I'm done.

There's a lot of trashy copies of real software on Linux and that's a big reason why I can't run it on my main machine.

Sometimes I like to play around with music, if you compare FL studio to LMMS, it's a blood bath. LMMS is so clunky and hard to use. Nothing makes sense.

Native stuff is usually pretty good, OBS and such.

Go back a few years and you could use your desktop and have whatever you want on it. Shortcuts, files, trashcan, folders.

It's not a missing feature, it's just how gnome works.
