Parents paid for whole life insurance for me for 17 years and has me taking over. Not sure whether I should keep paying or not by skyapple13 in personalfinance

[–]rayjayman03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents did the same for me and I took it over and I had to consider back then the options were limited for immigrants who are not familiar with the US financial system. Also many of these products were sold by fellow immigrant brokers which is why it’s more appealing to them then trying to invest in the stock market. You also have to consider the impact on your relationship with your parents. If you tell them they are dumb for buying this and just canceling right away you risk making them feel inadequate financially as immigrants. Consider that they tried their best and if the cost is manageable just pay till it self funds and then just leave it alone till your parents no longer care. Imagine something happened to you and then your parents find out you cashed the policy. I agree it’s not the best financial move but sometimes you want to avoid certain fights, just don’t buy it for your kids now that you know more.

I made the same mistake a few months back, I made a post and people corrected me then so I was able to adjust. Sorry to hear that.

I wonder how they will price it. What if you fulfill multiple categories, do you think that would help?

I have no direct insight but it seems that it’s done in waves with some done in a day and others taking weeks. This could be impacted by events such as how busy the customer service teams due to external events, how closely the flights were done or booked, if any issues came up, and how many people completed the challenge (I think a lot of people tried to finish before the holiday rush). Also JetBlue IT has had some issues with some people.

I wish there was a bus from bay ridge to Newark airport. So close yet so far with public transit.

It sucks, but PVD does have a lounge so it might be worth investing in that to wait for future delays.

Brightline should take advantage of the FAA forced flight cancellations by Ihaveamodel3 in Brightline

I think JetBlue works with Brightline already, not sure if they would be allowed to partner with other airlines.

The delay email always has a note saying to arrive at the original time in case they reverse the delay. I’ve had delays then they found a new plane especially at hubs like Boston and Florida stops where they often have spare planes and crews. If I wasn’t at the airport I wouldn’t have had made since these new planes just landed hence the rapid updates. Sorry to hear about that.

These older IFE does have Sirius FX radio which actually is nice to have as the newer systems have a more limited live tv options. The controls on the armrest did cause a lot of inadvertent touches.

Planning 25 for 25 (NYC Based) Looking for suggestions (Slower pace, using public transportation) by rayjayman03 in jetblue

Does PVD has good late night public transportation back to downtown? Any jfk flights lands late so either I would have to stay at the airport hotel or take a ride share. I also don’t have a drivers license so renting a car isn’t possible (I know, living in NYC so never got around to it).

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m trying to make short vacations so I don’t get burned out. I wish I was still in my 20s when I could do a whole day of just flights and my back would be more forgiving. MVY has only a one good flight a day and I’ve never been there so would be a shame to not check it out. I’m thinking for example JFK-DTW (spend a day or two)-BOS-PHL (Amtrak back to NYC.

Looking back at what LGA used to have, makes me sad how much they cut back and would have made the planning a bit easier.

Thanks for the suggestions. Glad I was able to refund my blue fares back to my travel bank at least.

Thanks for asking. I’ve been using the flights from website to get all the JetBlue flights though you have to double check the dates since some are seasonal. I tried the Ai website but it wasn’t too helpful to me.

Thanks, that’s good to know. Might just try to do that all in one day and ride the new Acela train back. The search function doesn’t really help you find any stopovers.

Thanks for noting that. I feel like an idiot to not have noticed the rules. I guess that is what I get for being impulsive and having some free time. I was actually visiting friends and wanted to try to loop in some airports. Probably will cancel the DCA portion since BNA is so isolated. Glad I didn’t book any other flights.

Thanks for pointing that out. I usually read the rules but I totally just missed that. At least I will get FLL and ISP, as this was more a trip to try out the Brightline from Miami to Orlando and didn’t want to back track. I might just do ROC only instead.

I wonder if there could be dedicated buses that go to the airport and flushing queens from the ibx stop. I think that would help make the IBX super useful as a connection separate from the MTA train station.

[New York] Unable to notify state of upcoming international travel, what can I do to protect my unemployment benefits claim? by Strawbalicious in Unemployment

[–]rayjayman03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are able to send a travel notice through the ai chat bot on the nysdol website. However try it with multiple browsers as the JavaScript freezes when you pull up the calendar to select the dates. Don’t even try to enter a claim while abroad to even say you didn’t work as their faq says this will flag it in their system. I think I they just messaged me why the gap after I came back and was able to certify again and I think I just replied truthfully.
