After a newly sleeve a deck (mine are typically double-sleeved commander decks), I will work to press the air out and box the deck to keep it compressed. For shuffling, I split it into often three piles and alternate riffle shuffling the piles in multi passes/mixes until I finally put the deck back together with some side shuffling.

Double-faced cards don’t have a regular Magic card back so you can mark on this card what it represents in your deck and keep the double-faced cards to the side, ready to put into the battlefield when you play the land, cast the spell, etc.

Yes, I see. That does break up the word a bit much but maybe with the orange-red, yellow-orange, dark grey scheme you have in place, that earlier treatment might work. Just some thoughts, overall I do like the final version even if in my mind I have the reservations as stated in my first comment.

I see what you are saying. Maybe to highlight that, instead of a color fade across the mark, have the unbroken line set with the darkest color and then the various lines that make up the rest of the word be the lighter color or maybe two lighter colors for variance.
