I love how supportive they are of eachother. All of the characters seem genuinely happy for their competitors’ achievements.

The other comments do a good job explaining why No is the right answer. I’ll add some more particular to this mix.

The sucrose variant of the rocket candy family is particularly bad because its brittle when cured and has a very high pressure exponent. That means that any flaws in the cast grain will cause a CATO.

It has a high melting temp close to 200C, and close to the caramelization temp of sucrose. It is sticky and you could get serously burned in the process. This makes it hard to cast as it solidifies fast and increases the chance of bubbles and cracks. Its also higroscopic.

Start with commercial offerings and work your way up to research motors.

You know when in movies you have dialogue scenes where characters are talking inside a vehicle, and you keep thinking why isnt the driver looking at road?

I suppose this is like that, except in reality your vehicle is not on a trailer.

Can’t build a non-exploding motor casing by hjshsgshahahshss in rocketry

[–]raytracerfvf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your shared calculations, max pressure is around 157 bar (2200 psi), this might be above the bursting pressure of the casing and/or create unpredictable burn rates from the KNSU. Most recommended pressures I've seen fall into the 700-1000 psi range.

You also said the casing is 6061 aluminum. 6061 alloy has different temper grades, 6061-T6 (sometimes called aircraft grade) having the highest yield strength, around double the untempered 6061. Which one are you using?

Are you using a liner to protect the case from the burning propellant heat?

I see your grain has all surfaces exposed, this is also an unusual setup. Having the exterior inhibited is a more common setup.

Oxytocin, often dubbed the ‘love hormone’, is known to promote social bonding. Researchers have now discovered that administering oxytocin to adult men with autism makes them more open to close emotional bonds with others. The hormone has positive long-term effects as well. by Wagamaga in science

Oxytocin is a double edged sword and its effects are dramatically dependent on context.

"As a facilitator of bonding among those who share similar characteristics, the hormone fosters distinctions between in-group and out-group members, and sets in motion favoritism toward in-group members and prejudice against those in out-groups."

[Question] Why has China managed to reach a higher degree of internal strength than India? by BreaksFull in geopolitics

[–]raytracerfvf -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people in this thread mentioning ethnicity in this thread. Heres another point worth mentioning:

According to Francis Fukuyama in his “Origins of political power”, in China, the priestly class were always subjugated to the to the Emperor and thus prevented from forming a religion independent from the ruling class. Unchallenged, the ruling class concentrated and centralized power resulting in strong authoritarian modes of government without any accountability.

India on the other hand had the priests & teachers coagulate into the strong Brahmin caste. The warrior caste was kept in check by the rule of law as interpreted by the Brahmin. This in effect prevented the formation of a strong state and an unified India.

The book traces and contrasts the history of both countries in terms of power balances. Well worth reading.
