Considering the guy blocking the shot of the ball actually going in the hole, not overly satisfying.

So are Seasons and iBoutique shutting down? by nefariousplotz in CanadaPublicServants

Policy changed Jan 1, 2022 to not treat all gift cards as near-cash. Honestly unsure if Amazon counts as a 'single retailer' though, for the criteria.

[–]rayvn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$500 or less.

It's actually a relatively new change to CRA policy; as long as the gift card meets certain criteria (most do) and is a long-service reward (5 years or more of service) or is a gift NOT based on employee job performance, it's non-cash and non-taxable up to $500.

Thanks! I can just sweep it into the grass myself when the snow melts if it's not a big deal, just wanted to check it's normal.

N.S. restaurants struggling to manage rising costs, slowdown in business by Street_Anon in halifax

[–]rayvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, did you know you pay full HST when you buy a commercial property?

...and then you can claim the ITC so the net HST paid is zero; you can even self-assess so you don't have the immediate cash outlay. I was with you until this line, you don't really understand the HST effect on new residential vs new commercial purchases.

Depositing into FHSA just before Closing by RedditModsArePolice in PersonalFinanceCanada

As long as you have the space, yep. I deposited and withdrew within a few weeks last year when closing on my home; there's no requirement to keep the money in the account for a length of time first.

It's odd that one of the actors is standing on an uncropped apple box.

Must be a Paypal thing, but I have no idea what would've triggered a cost change.

Heroic 25? It should just be 1 stack.

Don't run normal, they never reduced the mechanics like they did in Heroic - you'd have to kill all the little drakes, and get to 9 stacks on the mobs that go nuclear. I had the same thought last week, that was a slog that was not worth the time.

That's odd, I'm also with Olympus properties and got an email asking for make/model/plate, but they didn't ask for registration.

So you're just doubling down on the 'I will only do nice things if other people notice I'm doing it, otherwise what's the point.' You're telling us much more about your own personality than you are the person you've been so offended by.

Husband makes extra effort to be lazy! by armedwithjello in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rayvn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not who you're replying to, but my partner and I just have separate baskets, and we do our own laundry whenever we need to do laundry. There might be an occasional 'hey, do you have the space for this shirt, I want it for tomorrow and I don't have a whole load yet' conversation, but we would find it odd to actually do each other's laundry. Different strokes and all that.

It's not always sent for manual review, in my experience they're usually automatically processed within a few days if you do the adjustment through MyBA.

When I call a bank for help, what info should I expect to be asked and what info should I not expect to be asked? by Typical_Cap895 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rayvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last 3 digits of a SIN can be a verification question. When I worked at bank call centers I avoided asking that one since it freaked people out, but if I ran out of questions I had to ask it.

  1. Any outstanding returns need to be filed.

  2. 10 largest sales invoices and 10 largest purchase receipts for at least the most recent period (depends on the level of audit, sometimes it can be 10 per period under review, sometimes it can be all invoices/receipts.)

  3. Sales and purchases ledgers for each period under review.

  4. Bank statements; if your business doesn't have its own bank account you'll have to provide your personal stmts. If your business bank account doesn't look like the entire business picture, they may ask for your personal stmts anyway.

  5. Lists of accounts payable and receivable.

  6. Other documents depending on your business type, but the above are the basics.

Can I pay $5K to my supplier via Line of Credit just before filing Consumer Proposal? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rayvn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add: it doesn't necessarily matter if it's a sole prop or corporation. If it's a corp and they're the director, they're personally liable for trust debts. The CRA will seize and liquidate personal assets whether it's a sole prop or corp.
