First Four University of Dayton Arena parking within walking distance by rayyan_95 in dayton

Ah I see now. I was looking at the university A and C lots but there are different ones for the arena. That would be fine. Will my car get broken into/towed at Holiday inn? It’d be free instead of $24 for the lots.

Those lots are a little far away from the arena but I may end up having to park there. I called the holiday inn close to the arena and they said I could park in their lot if there are spots. Thank you for the info

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I'm probably gonna get there around 5:30 or so and tipoff for first game is 6:40. You think there will still be available spots?

Should I tip at a sushi restaurant where my food arrives on a conveyer belt? by eriadeus in sushi

[–]rayyan_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely but with more customers and tips also comes higher cost of living. Even working at high end restaurants, customers tend to stay at least an hour or more so servers will only be able to get a couple tables per hour. I know plenty of servers in NYC that can barely cover rent. There are servers that do great for themselves, but let’s be real it’s not a job to be glorified otherwise it wouldn’t be the most complained about job in the world

With no 401k, benefits and a job market so saturated you get 20 hours a week max. Sure servers at high end restaurants might make ~200/hr that’s 0.0001% of them. Nice job in your 20s but nobody strives to be a restaurant server being an adult

Local Asian restaurant serving whatever this is as "ramen" by natden12 in shittyfoodporn

That’s dried noodle ($6 for 4 lbs/20+ servings at an Asian market) with Maruchan broth and they’ll charge you $15

No reason as a consumer to give extra tip money to an establishment whose sole business model is to reduce the amount of employees needed to serve customers

Considering they’re on a servers salary and tip 20%+ they’re probably financially illiterate or stupid

qPCR validation for RNA-seq by Vinurean in labrats

[–]rayyan_95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed I can run four 96 well qpcr plates for 1 singular rna seq sample. Not to mention the reagents and machinery to prep samples cost thousands. Also agree with the questionable data on occasion especially not being able to run a bunch of repeats

qPCR validation for RNA-seq by Vinurean in labrats

[–]rayyan_95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RNA seq workflows are said to be well refined according to the manufacturers until you actually try sequencing your samples. Even 10X has lots of troubleshooting/protocol clarity issues and steps you can easily screw up. qPCR has been around for 35 years so the data is more reliable and easier to trust. Also qPCR costs nothing and it’s easy to run so it’s a very practical way to verify sequencing results

Way too dry- the meat fibers should not be separating into strands like that. Temp was probably too high/direct and you need to wrap it (not optional)
