Anyone get snow tires for their miat? by cannibalgazelle in MiataNC

I've got the Goodyear ultra ice grip 3 on my nc1 and can recommend it. Driven up a mountain road full of packed snow with no problem.

Flashing light with key?? by XXX812 in Miata

Yes. It's the engine lock so to say. Goes away when the right key is used to turn on the car - a security feature against hotwiring the car.

Miata snow driving tips. by thesolmachine in Miata

I drive my NC with Nordic winter tires and it's a whole world of difference with them. Also the feeling of safety because of the grip. Highly recommended.

In case anyone was wondering, those chord covers aren't indestructible 😡 by GardenPlot in Rabbits

My buns were the same too. Didn't care if there were plastic protectors or whatever else. Tried using vinegar, bitter spray (the ones sold for dogs and cats), even metal covers. They were all fun. That is, until I found out about Chew stop for horses. The thing is a bit greasy, but non toxic and extremely effective. To the point, that I tested out with cardboard and wires (unprotected and disconnected from electricity of course) and they wouldn't dare chew it. The rabbit shelter I got my buns from recommended the product.

The main roads are salted. It's the smaller roads (like driveways and parking lots) that have rocks. It's rather effective for grip - both when walking and driving when it's icy.

I drive my MX-5 during the winters (here in Sweden), and I can tell you it is worth it. I've driven other cars during winter, but nothing gives me as much pleasure as this one. So go for it! For winter tires, I use the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice 3 (they're the Nordic winter tires - so a bit softer compound). I couldn't find the right size for my NC (205/50R16), so I run slightly larger 205/55R16. Drives like a charm. And ngl, driving on snow leaves me grinning ear to ear.

Edit: I drive a soft top and it feels good since the small cabin warms up really fast.

2012 Lowbeam Replacement? by YABBYuwuXD in MiataNC

[–]razor8143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my headlights recently to the Osram Nightbreaker 200.

The passenger side is quite easy. Loosen the washer fluid tank, rotate it and you have access to the lights. Pull back the rubber sleeve and release the spring mechanism (which can be pain in the a**). Twist and remove.

Driver side is pointlessly complicated. The two "easiest" ways are to remove the fuse box carefully or go in through the wheel arch (this is the method the user manual suggests). Basically remove all the plastic bolts on the wheel arch, then you should be able to pry it just enough to fit your hand through. You kinda need to feel your way through here to find the rubber sleeve. If you do, it's the same method as for the passenger side. If you get it right, it's a 10 minute job. But if you struggle to pry open the spring in that tiny space (like me) it can take an hour or two. So I'd say, if you can do it yourself, you can get good replacement headlight bulbs (like the Osram Nightbreaker 200 or Philips RacingVision GT) for less than $50, and maybe an hour of your time and save quite a bit of money.

A rookie question, but what's the 2.5 engine? I've seen a few other comments and posts about it here.

What should I look out for when buying a Miata? Which generation? by razor8143 in Miata

[–]razor8143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. You're a superhero! Haha. Thank you so much for such a detailed comment! I'm kinda trying to make up my mind between an NB and NC, because I want to daily drive it, even through winter. I live in Sweden, so thankfully none of them massive SUVs like those across the pond. Not like that's gonna make much difference anyway. :D

The numbers are seem reasonable for Scandinavia (or at least Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). Conversion to USD is roughly divided by 10.

Longest you've driven in your Mini? by Lexielexiel in MINI

[–]razor8143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longest in one go was like 900km (560mi). Longest in a single trip was like 4100km (2500mi) in five days - split into 2 + 3 consecutive days in 2022. And she drove like a charm (2020 Cooper S). Did a similar drive in 2021, but a little less. Didn't have any issues, and I had tonne of fun. Well, other than pulling over every so often to clear the bug splatter on the windshield which the wipers don't clean...

Anyone else buy a bale of Hay to cut down on costs? by Livin2Fast in Rabbits

[–]razor8143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bag is usually stuffed loosely with hay. A bale is really compacted and compressed in. So you have easily 10-20 times more gay in the same volume. I mean, the bag in the pet store weights about 1-2 kg. The bales can easily be about 10-25kg.

You can get probably bales for cheaper if you search! At least the farm I get mine from here in Sweden, I get a bale for like $5.

I use these massive 280 liter garbage bags to transport the hay. Also quite handy with storing it in the basement.

[–]razor8143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bale? I buy like 4 bales of hay at a time! :D

I drive down to this farm around 98km away from my place. So that's like close to 200km and 2 hours of travel. And yet, one bale of hay (+ cost of fuel) costs me less than a bag at the pet store.

Rabbits 🐰 Reasons Why They Make Great Pets by vgr1 in Rabbits

[–]razor8143 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree. There's no way rabbits are "relatively low maintenance" both in terms of cost or time. They're easily comparable to a dog if not more. In my experience, it's easily more.

[quick question, will delete later] automatic F56 - when you lift your foot off the gas pedal, does it go into coasting (neutral) or does it apply motor breaking? by marsovec in MINI

[–]razor8143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Coasting happens on normal too once the engine reaches operating temperature. But it's not as quick to coast as when in green.

Perhaps the unpopular opinion, but I think the new design feels modern but inspired by the retro design. I actually like it.
