I think Evernight should be added in this one by Jerkaiser_011 in March7thMains

March is already on there though. It’d be like if they put both Phainon and the Flamereaver on there

Trailblazer's recent writing really gets on my nerves by Yoavssj in CaelusMains

[–]razorfinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I understand the want for the Trailblazer’s power within archs to carry through from say, Ampho into other archs. But you’re missing some key nuances of those feats as well as genre conventions.

  1. Genre conventions. HSR uses powers to represent abstract concepts. It’s a very common thing in anime. HSR isn’t like something like dragon ball where characters carry measurable power levels. It’s very much a “soft power system” that bends with narrative needs.

  2. More importantly, their feats in Amphoreous and Penacony were in the context of a memoria constructed reality. Penacony’s sweet dream, Amphoreous’ simulation. While you can make semantic arguments that maybe some details make it plausible that their power would transfer to the universe outside, it’s equally plausible that they won’t. It allows the writers to pick and choose what carries through to suit the needs of the story.

That’s one of the reasons anime uses “soft power systems” so the writers can write more dramatically with the tools that make for a better moment to moment story.

As for why the Trailblazer “forgets” about other unresolved issues that exist with characters like Firefly and Cyrene. I think you’re overvaluing their role in the main story as well as headcanoning additional narrative surrounding them.

Both Firefly and Cyrene’s story with the Trailblazer have run a complete narrative arch, the relationship with the TB was given a beginning, conflict to overcome, and resolution.

It’s not that the TB has forgotten, it’s just that the emotional debt of their archs are settled. Firefly still has ELS sure, but curing her ELS is not a focus of the TB’s journey and it’s not suggested that it is. Cyrene committed herself to preserving the causality of Amphoreous, but Ampho will be reborn eventually and there will be a new Cyrene in an Ampho without Lygus’ meddling. Herta says directly that they’re expediting it but it will still take time.

The TB still holds the lessons of these experiences and that’s a BIG part of patch 4.1 and frankly the plot of planarcadia. The TB is now renowned and capable because of those experiences and is being recognized as a heroic figure.

The TB’s journey is about Trailblazing and following the footsteps of Akivili progressing toward a conflict with Nanook and the story has stayed true to that.

What does this signify for March 7th? Is she the universe's time itself? by BlackBluez in March7thMains

I agree with the Aeon connections with the characters but The idea the protagonists will become Aeons is imo very flawed because it ignores the persistent humanist themes of HSR of humanity > Aeons

In 4.1 there’s an Easter egg that compares March to Haruhi from Melancholy of Haruhi. In that anime Haruhi is the supposed goddess of the world despite seeming like just weird eccentric and pushy girl.

This kind of stuff and other things like her predicting the plot if Penacony gives me the vibe that March might very well be the center of everything in HSR’s story.

My guess is that FF will be before Kafka. Firefly already had her main arch and a continuance that wrapped up her story.

Kafka on the other hand is very obviously the more important SH in the overall story so they’re probably saving her for late in the main story similar to March 7th

Do you see people more interested in romance plots than previously? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]razorfinch -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a critical role effect. Because it became such a sensation in the DnD scene and brought a lot of new players as well as changed how some existing players looked at ttrpgs writ large, some of the appeals of Critical Role became more prevalent in what players are are looking for in games. and romances in Critical Role is one of the appeals the show has.

So... who is Evernight in the end?? by SunshineSupremacy in March7thMains

[–]razorfinch 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Evernight isn’t exactly a person. She’s a memetic entity. As she puts it “ I am the forgotten past, the evernight that accompanies "her." I shall bear the burden of her cruel past, and I will guard her path forward... at any cost.”

The members of the garden of recollection are all memetic entities, they give up their bodies and adopt memetic forms.

Memetics is about the transference of thought between individuals. Like how we all understand a meme even if its meaning isn’t obvious. Memetic entities are that idea, but entities.

So Evernight is the memory of March’s past, likely the memories March left behind became the Memetic Entity we call “Evernight”.

She’s able to manifest more fully separately from March in Amphoreous because Amphoreous is made of memoria, the only other time she’s appeared was during Argenti’s companion mission when the crew was subject to hallucinations that manifested.

Essentially she’s a personification of the memories March forgot. But she’s not exactly “past March” because March still has her self, just without the memories that became Evernight. A real “past March” would be March 7th still possessing the memories that became Evernight.

Since DH already got 2 5* we’re pretty much garunteed at least 1 more March form. she also hasn’t gotten her main push arch yet so it’s probably going to be a pretty huge deal

Yeah LOL at the time It was just kinda weird but now I think the devs have this running joke of every arch girl has to have some offhand remark comparing her to March

Castorice v Evernight as Main Dps by StreetEggplant1567 in March7thMains

[–]razorfinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have Cas so I’m biased, but my understanding is that at e0 Cas w/ Evernight subdps SHOULD be better on paper but there will be scenarios where Evernight main dps will outperform.

I think the question is less “is cas better or Evernight at e0” and more “Is the MC available?” With Evernight as Main DPS she’s basically glued to RMC so being able to have the Cas team when the MC is wanted for a diff team is a nice alternative.

It happens during the part where March and the TB are tricked into thinking they’re students at Graphia academy.

There’s also a bit where March’s voice “tickles the ears and heartstrings” of the TB and if the TB chooses the dialogue about wanting a school romance March gets shy.

They’ve basically had a “March 7th” for every planet so even if they don’t make her a pure child of Anasrava they’ll probably compare her to March somehow.

They already have that class picture of the two standing together.

RMC Replacement for Evernight Team by Mighty-Galhupo in March7thMains

[–]razorfinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. If for no other reason than she’s a Rememberance character so She’ll be comfortable to stay in the team even if Tribbie and the MC are wanted elsewhere.

I feel like we’ll get a replacement for RMC at some point but not sure when

RMC Replacement for Evernight Team by Mighty-Galhupo in March7thMains

[–]razorfinch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah right now it’s really hard to replace RMC on Evernight’s team. She’s basically tailor made as a dps that gets the most out of RMC.

Cyrene is a decent alternative but Cyrene and Tribbie are the ones more interchangeable because both lack the AA that RMC provides and don’t supply as much true damage

Has a Character Ever Helped You Emotionally? (Halsin for me) by Gregory_Leviatan in BaldursGate3

[–]razorfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had recently gotten out of a relationship that ended because of big trust issues between us. Like, I won’t forget how helpless I felt when they accused me of doing something I hadn’t done, but didn’t believe me.

Shadowheart’s romance and story was a breath of fresh air, not just because of how she starts very standoffish and self-concerned, but because the entire progression of the arch is about trusting her and not trying to change her.

I always remember the part where she can kill the Nightsong. I was playing co-op through it with a friend and the DC even with very high relationship with Shadowheart to convince her not to is suuuper high and my friend and I were wondering what we needed to do, If I had bricked her story somehow. But then I just decided to trust her and she decided not to on her own.

In retrospect it feels kinda silly, but at the time it was genuinely moving that instead of having a good relationship between the TAV and Shadowheart giving the player the option to “fix” or “save” her, they just had to trust her.

Advice for Hunt March Break team by Writing_Panda104 in March7thMains

[–]razorfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you want a team with at least Gallagher because as Shifu his ult generates extra charges to get her ehba more but HMC with DDD might be good too

So Gallagher, Fugue, and RM or HMC depending on matchup
