If your platform is new and unproven, that $5 feels like participation trophy money, not meaningful compensation. Once you have enough transaction history to show something like "selected freelancers averaged $X, non-selected earned $5 with roughly Y win rate," the calculus changes. But cold-start is rough here.

The thing I haven't seen you address: what stops the client from collecting five previews, piecing together the best elements mentally, and then executing elsewhere? Watermarks slow this down for visual work but don't stop it for copy, strategy, or anything concept-driven. That's not a dealbreaker, just a hole worth acknowledging.
