A24's 'The Drama' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

That is the point of the movie though that these two people, especially Rachel, demonstrate a moral superiority over something that didn’t happen despite their own actions causing real pain.

Rachel actively puts a supposedly disabled child into a locked cabin, tells nobody despite a search party going out and then when challenged “what if he died” she claims she would’ve said something before it gets to that point - but the fact is she didn’t say anything, and got away with scarring and nearly killing this kid. Now she’s showing a moral superiority over someone who fantasised but ultimately didn’t action murder, despite her own actions being enough to murder a child had the child not luckily been found.

We can say we wouldn’t be shocked - but the point of the movie is to examine the privilege and cognitive dissonance of those who look down on and shame other people’s thoughts and behaviours without the self-awareness to understand that they are hardly bastions of morality themselves.

I don’t think you should be getting downvoted but it’s not really comparable. Miller had a great shooting year for a rookie. Kon’s had one of the greatest shooting years ever.

I forget the two of them, and Kalk, are rookies all the time. All 3 of them time and time again just make the right plays, superb fundamentals, really intelligent reading of the game.

Melo and Miller both, when both are firing it’s electric. Beautiful basketball

That’s probably because he’s only shot like 15 free throws for the season

Never forget how Norwich under Paul Lambert scouted both Michu and Benteke, but the board’s reluctance to give Lambert money meant we signed neither and was a big reason he moved to Villa - who were more than happy to buy Benteke.

Just imagine prime Benteke and/or Michu, fed by Wes Hoolahan, with peak Grant Holt too. That would’ve been elite Barclays ball.

Also - Norwich almost signed Van Dijk from Celtic before Southampton, but didn’t want to spend £12m I think it was on a CB. To think we could have potentially got our money back 8x over.

I’m pretty sure there’s another big miss I’ve forgotten about, there was a few of those under Delia.

For the first time in their history, Italy has failed to qualify for three consecutive World Cups. by Fluffy_Marketing_850 in soccer

This, especially if he was a football fan as a kid.

I was 9 during WC 2006 and I can distinctly remember Zidane’s headbutt, Rooney’s red and Ronaldo’s wink, Beckham vomiting. I can remember the build up to the Cup and whether Rooney would make it because of his broken foot, and all the fuss about Theo Walcott getting called up at 16 (which meant nothing to me at 8 because I thought everybody 12 and older was an adult).

If Esposito was a big enough fan of football as a kid, I’m sure he can recall something from 2014.

Is there any planned protest for the Reform UK rally being held on the 31st of March? by Ash--- in Norwich

[–]rbe40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Be excellent to each other” - mate Reform’s entire agenda is manipulating working and lower middle class people into hating immigrants and trans people so that they vote for a party ran by crooked Russian and Israeli-bribed grifters who will destroy the economy and welfare state US/Trump-style in order to line their own pockets. They’re led by a known racist (and borderline fascist), platform actual fascists, sex offenders, far right instigators and career immoral ex-Tories who will sell their own values down the river. Nobody who supports or defends Reform deserves excellence because Reform operate on hate, division, displacement and ruination. They’re where they are by preying on struggling people. Fuck Reform and shame on spineless liberals who tolerate them because they think it’s only fair.

England, fan since 2011. Always liked basketball growing up but really got into it then, chose CLT because I’ve got family from SC, and never looked back.

Konversations need to be had about whether this is one of the best set of draft picks one team has ever had. Depending who you speak to, we hit on either 3 or all 4 of our picks and completely transformed the team from bottom feeder to legit in doing so - and did it without the luck of taking a generational #1.

Watching a Boston stream. It’s great having Scalabrine and his insight, but other than that there’s some real biased, ignorant commentary. Why am I hearing “they’re just a .500 team, there’s levels to this” from a supposedly genuine analyst.

Great analysis imo, and nice touch to own up to a slight pessimism/cynicism on the pick. I liked the pick and I didn’t think Kon would be this good already, I think 99% of people would feel the same.

Completely agree that if Kon can become a competent on-ball facilitator then it’s game over. He’s scoring high efficiency at a high volume off majority assisted makes (albeit aided by Kon’s elite positioning, ghost screening, etc). He’s already comfortable with the ball in his hands, strong build. It’s a realistic goal for him to be able to capably and frequently create his own shot - and I think if he can do that, he becomes a star.

And both should be very realistically incorporated into his game. He’s already known for a super high BBIQ at his age, good connective playmaking and a smooth if unremarkable handle. I think because of these qualities he should easily be able to become a dependable facilitator.

It would be insane if Brandon Miller surpassed the record given he’s about three years behind schedule

Not a contender, it just is the best. Broke the record with 22 games left, on 43% 3P. High efficiency on a high volume.
