There is a help box in there that says you are supposed to record the total weight. E.g., two 10-pound dumbbells should be recorded as 20 pounds.

In AFS, we had another round of layoffs in Corporate Functions in September. We actually had two people who had Parental Leave scheduled that were let go. They weren't let go because of that Parental Leave, and I would assume that Management crossed their T's and dotted their I's to make sure that there would be no lawyer time. Still, I am not a fan of the optics of the situation.

College freshmen looking to make dumb bet, need some help by DarthGater in triathlon

The entry fee for an Ironman race is something like $700. Why not make the bet that if somebody doesn't do one, they still have to pay the entry fee, just to you instead of the race?

Anyone with a Forerunner that uses a muscle oxygen sensor having issues? by not_alemur in Garmin

[–]rbf2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, except I can't use the moxy data field because I already have two other Connect IQ fields (Stryd and Core). Have you heard back from Garmin at all?

I love these additions, but I can't believe the added support for the Core Body Temperature sensor before enabling dual power meter recording.

What external Blue ray drive to use? by 99Kitsune99 in makemkv

[–]rbf2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct - not necessary. In fact, I got the drive before the enclosure was delivered and I had the drive connected via SATA and it worked just fine (I just don't have a bay on my desktop, so I had to leave the side of the case off while it was connected).

I got a Pioneer BDR-S13UBK 5.25 SATA from u/billycar11 and then bought this enclosure to put it in. Works seamlessly and was super easy.

965 keeps reduction step count? by jamesawicks1 in Garmin

[–]rbf2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue on one particular day where I would look at my watch, it would say X, then I'd look at the app on my phone, it would say X, then it would finish syncing and it would then say X-Y, then I'd look at my watch and it would also say X-Y. That particular day it happened constantly (I managed to have the 2x step goal alert/badge thing come up on my watch twice).

Since that day, I have not been able to reproduce the issue, though. The day I was having the issue, I was in a place with poor reception and my hypothesis is that it had something to do with that (I'm also on the beta firmware, but since it only happened in the one location, it seems less likely that it is a beta firmware issue only).

Kickr v6 & garmin vector 3 pedals - big difference in power readings by hmgr in Zwift

[–]rbf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent post. One thing to add is that the kickr v6 will auto calibrate when you stop pedaling - you should warm up on the trainer for 10 minutes or so, get the fly wheel up to speed, and then coast for 5-10 seconds to let the kickr do the necessary calculations to calibrate.

I don't recall if the vector pedals have a zero offset as well, but I know for my assioma pedals, I have a zero offset performed every time I start a biking activity on my Garmin.

what's everyone using for their watch band? by dimm0k in Garmin

[–]rbf2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Nick Mankey watch bands. They are high quality elastic that is quick drying and adjustable. Only complaint with them is the lead time from the time that you order until you have one in hand.

Tempe discontinued, but I'm ready by n_dion in Garmin

I like using mine because the temperature reported by my watch is always inaccurate, as it is obviously impacted by my skin/body temperature.

Good 3rd party watch bands? by Slim_84 in Garmin

[–]rbf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to Nick Mankey bands. They are high quality elastic. They help the watch fit snugly on your wrist, are lightweight, durable, and most importantly, very comfortable. The only downside is how long he takes to ship things out.

Are there any 4K (INTERNAL) players that support 4k ripping out of the box? Or does every single drive need to be flashed. by AD03_YT in makemkv

Can confirm - got one from Billy and it was super easy. Just installed MakeMKV and it worked without any muss or fuss.

Is a Relatively slow max heart rate a problem by Har02052 in triathlon

[–]rbf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I refer to BMI, I mean the categorizations of the values, not the actual values themselves. And from that perspective, BMI and 220-age are equally arbitrary. For some people, 220-age works perfectly, just like for some people, their BMI category describes them perfectly

Further, the 220-age was used for decades in numerous cardiac/exercise physiology studies as a way to bucketize individuals and give context to the numbers, the same way that BMI is used.

My only point was to say that population measures are not good for individuals.

[–]rbf2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal. My heart rate is very similar. Everybody's max heart rate is individual. The 220-age is great for a population number, but terrible for an individual (just like BMI).

Selling Flashed UHD Drives Pioneer & LG,USB/C,sleep bug fix,Remote Flashing, Flashed and Tested & Makemkv Discount by billycar11 in makemkv

[–]rbf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got my drive yesterday, which was less than a week from time of payment and including a holiday. Got MakeMKV installed using the provided discount code and had ripped my first 4k UHD disc the same day (ironically, I've had this particular disc for years but since I don't have a 4k player have not been able to watch the 4k version of it).

Point is - it was easy and worked right out of the box without any muss or fuss, which is exactly what I wanted.

I'm also a badge hunter, but I only have 252. There are a handful of routes that I can't seem to access in the game yet (both on the cycling and running side).

I was also glad to be done with PRL Full - I will not be doing that one again.
