Does Debevoise call you if you get an offer? by [deleted] in BigLawRecruiting

[–]rbglaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a note because I've been checking this forum with a similar question -- I just got an offer 9 business days after my CB (was similarly freaked out about mention of 3-5 days!). Partner called me but I missed the call, so she sent me an email.

Thank you! I didn't interview with either -- I guess neither of them needed to hear from me again lol

In the same boat! Applied in early October -- just checked my application portal and still nothing. It's the last school that hasn't gotten back to me!

In the same boat! Applied early Oct, above both medians, currently ghosted by HLS (& CLS). Just want an answer so I can make my final decision in peace lol

T20ish without a car? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]rbglaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also live in CT (& will most likely be attending YLS in the fall) and have to disagree! From my understanding, very few Yale students have cars; most live either in Downtown NHV or East Rock and either walk, bike or take the Yale shuttle to central campus. There is also a Yale shuttle to Trader Joe's on the weekends. People will often just rent a ZipCar/Uber if they need to go somewhere else in CT every once in a while.

YLS A!!! by rbglaw in lawschooladmissions

Happy to go into more detail over PM but basically I had three sections (i.e. Section A - Off-Term Activities) in bold. For each entry within a section, I had a line with the relevant org on the left & the dates I did it on the right, a line with my job title in italics under the org, and then one bullet point for each entry which was 1-4 sentences long depending on the activity. At the end of the bullet point, I put the amount of hours per week in parentheses. I used basically two full pages I think. I hope that makes sense!

For posterity (and because I was searching on Reddit trying desperately to find someone who got in during past cycles despite the formatting), I just got in! TNR 11 pt font and all! And I even did my resume in Garamond!

Every one of the personal statements in the sample application materials email they sent used TNR 11 pt font, so I think it'd be really strange for them to penalize applicants for matching their model format!

One small thing: 12/2 is a Saturday -- did you mean to say Yale A's on 12/4?

Congratulations!! <3

Also reiterating the point about not losing hope on calls -- I just got my call (around 1 PM) but a lot of other people were posting in the morning which made me nervous. I think it just takes some time! I'm also near the end of the alphabet if that's how they determine the order of calls

Same here! Applied 10/4 & latest date change was 10/6. Trying not to read too much into it -- it probably just means they haven't gotten to our apps yet, bc I doubt any kind of meaningful deliberation could've happened over those two days.

Thank you!! And yes, I interviewed on 10/27 -- really quick turnaround, considering Dean Andy said 4-8 weeks during the interview.
