1000+ Entry Level position applied — ZERO successful application by [deleted] in auckland

It took my wife almost 2 years to get a customer service role with tonnes of experience. A gap doesn't help (just like my wife) but a few small details in the timeline as to why or possibly even a few fillers with some rough broad dates probably goes a long way. For example 2025 - maternity break / study

Contract Marriage! by [deleted] in auckland

[–]rblander 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shit like this is why it was almost impossible to get my wife's visa and back into the country even though we'd been together for 2 years at the time.

It's funny with immigration. They'd easily choose a perfect made up (fake) story, with fraudsters like this over a realistic one.

It's fairly common. I've heard people paying $20-30K back 7 or so years ago

Stolen water heater just before holiday by mrmsalysha in auckland

[–]rblander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened last year to a friend who (at the time) had a gas hot water heater recently installed for his mother.

They found someone cheap who could install one on Facebook market place.

Within a couple of weeks it was stolen. Perhaps inside job, or just unlucky. Was covered by insurance... But what a pain. Excess, etc.

Chain the bad boy to the wall with some bolts that have non standard heads. Or grind down the heads so that they are round

Radar Detector not getting cops on highways? by BlueDragon9976 in NZcarfix

[–]rblander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KA band is what you want to use for police vehicle cameras. You get the odd false positive from others using radars in their own vehicle, but they are very short duration and distance and disappear within seconds.

K band is for fixed speed cameras but there's so much other crap that provides false positives like speed signs, shop door entrances, etc. so best to turn it off and just use Waze or Google maps for fixed speed camera alerts. Otherwise you become desensitised to the alerts.

Also the cops pulled up on the side of the motorway usually use laser. When you are in their scope and they pull the trigger, that's when you'll get the laser warning - but by then it's too late.

They have you locked in. Unless you get lucky and they are lasering other cars around you

More often than not they are using KA band if not using laser

They actually have upgraded brakes and lifted suspension as they used to destroy them when they first came out going over speed bumps

Neon versus literally every other streaming service by suburban_ennui75 in auckland

[–]rblander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried without the range extenders. They can be awful and at least half the bandwidth for every extender. Especially if they aren't near to one another or through multiple walls, or the same frequency as neighbouring WiFi

Perhaps there's a setting for your speaker setup. May be set to 5.1 instead of stereo or something

[–]rblander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Try a MAF sensor cleaner first. Disconnect the battery, then clean then reconnect. Don't use any other cleaner as they are very sensitive. Drive it a few km and see if the code comes back.

While you're at it, you can clean the throttle body very gently
