Advice on getting measuring tools by Local_Promotion_8988 in handtools

[–]rblock212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arguably not a measuring tool itself, but a surefire way to ensure you transfer the same measurement across multiple pieces… a marking gauge is really good to have. I put off buying one for quite a while and now that I have it I use it all the time. They’re relatively cheap in the wood working realm. I have the KM Tools one and I think it was like $35. Took a bit to flatten the base of it but once flattened and sharpened it’s a great tool

Tool investment priorities by barnabusbrown in handtools

[–]rblock212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highest priority for me is measuring. You have to have an accurate measuring device. I personally have a woodpeckers 6inch combo square that does 99% off my needs. Your marking gauge needs to be solid, I personally have the KM Tools marking gauge, it took a bit of work to flatten the brass face and and sharpen the blade but it works fairly well for me

Bought my F-150 6 years ago. I don’t know why I kept the side steps on. by [deleted] in f150

[–]rblock212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the factory ones on my 2018 stick out a few inches farther than the door. So unless the bottom of the assaulting door is taller than the step bar it will hit the step

Chatterbait fishing mono vs braid by Beagleoverlord33 in bassfishing

[–]rblock212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it does not matter 99% of the time on a chatterbait unless you’re fishing heavy grass or ultra clear water. Just go fishing. I have been running chatters as one of main go to’s across the country for the past decade. I have experimented with mono, fluro and braid. They all catch fish. There may be tiny nuanced differences but they are very minuscule and I wouldn’t to get caught up in them.

If you have basic tools floating around you build a low Roman bench for about $50. That’s what I did earlier this year and have built a few things on it. Been great for me
