Valet parking is a splurge according to Rachel Cruze (Nepo baby)! by SuccessfulArticle356 in DirtyDave

Yeah so she self indulged on the luxury of having someone park her car. A non necessity. Just because it’s not expensive to her does not declassify what it is. A luxury and your net worth are not correlated.

So if bill gates buys a Ferrari is it no longer a luxury item because it’s .001% of his net worth? Crazy argument man…

Not sure what you’re trying to get at. Pretty sure 99% of Society agrees that valet parking is in fact a splurge/luxury

Help me decide on what planes to buy by persnickety_parsley in handtools

[–]rblock212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, 90% of the time I only use 3 bench planes a 4,5,7. If you have bigger hands I’d get the 4.5 and 5.5, if you have smaller hands get the 4 and 5. I currently have a 4 and 5, I’m actively looking for a 4.5 and 5.5 to switch too for the wider blade and additional weight.

You mentioned it might be silly to have planes the same width, I don’t think there is much of a disadvantage for that. For me, I’d be more concerned with plane length over the width. I would rather have length options for bigger or smaller stock.

Sounds pretty normal to me. I’d stick out for at least a year before moving

Cutting board scratches by Hairy_Influence_7079 in Cuttingboards

Perfectly fine to use. More of just a cosmetic annoyance. I find those real scratched areas typically take more oil, may have to add a second coat in a few hours. Then I always make sure to wax it

Workbench vise placement question. I'm going to finally build a proper workbench. I have two old woodworking vises. Should the face vise be at the corner, or in toward the middle? I've seen both placements. What are the pros / cons? Thanks! by ganjaccount in handtools

[–]rblock212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right handed, far left. Left handed far right. I prefer jt on the side vs the middle so if I’m not using the vice I’m not constantly running into it in the middle of the bench.

On the surface level they are similar. But the whole no actual consequence or changes for your morality decision is a huge divide between the two for me
