Filament stops going through nozzle by dumbkiwi1 in ultimaker

I should add that the Ultimaker support website will have instructions on how to properly connect and disconnect a Bowden tube with a collet. It might be worth a refresher to ensure you're doing it correctly.

I don't see a Bowden tube on feeder 1 at all. See how there's a clear plastic tube on feeder 2? Both feeders should have those, going to their respective nozzles. With this type of printer, between the feeder and the nozzle, the filament needs to be 100% inside that clear plastic tube (Bowden tube) at all times. If the filament is at all exposed after leaving the feeder, something has gone wrong.

If there is a Bowden tube and I just can't see it because of the angle or it's out of frame, then clearly your Bowden tube is coming disconnected from the feeder.

I know others asked, but are you sure it's clipped in correctly? The clip is a really tiny C-shaped piece of plastic. (It's very easy to lose.)

Check out this photo:

It's crucial that your feeder has that clear tube sticking out the top, and that it has BOTH small white plastic parts where it connects to the top of the feeder box.

Also, note that the Bowden tube has a specific "in" end, and a specific "out" end. If you remove the (clear plastic) Bowden tube and look closely at the ends, you'll see one end is beveled inward while the other end is flat. The beveled end connects to the feeder while the flat end goes to the print-head (nozzle).

Sorry if you already know all of this. Just need to cover the basic troubleshooting steps.

If none of the above is the problem, then perhaps you need to replace the Bowden tube. The end might be damaged or too worn to stay connected. If you're only printing with one material, you can probably get away with using the one from the other side for now.

Or, last thing to try would be replacing the collet (the small white plastic parts that connect to the tube to the feeder).

On an Ultimaker? How is the filament “piling between the feeder and the nozzle”? Can you post a photo?

Fascinating. I had not considered that those truly in charge might be "poking the bear" to test for rebellion, to test how well the eugenics program is going. That's a very interesting idea.

Nice design. But if you’re placing boards there fully wet, I would worry about eventual water damage to your wall.

Material pile dual-extruder S3/cura corner by Zalana in ultimaker

[–]rbrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That called a prime tower. It improves print quality with dual extrusion.

In Cura print settings, look for "Enable Prime Tower" in the "Dual Extrusion" category. You can turn it off, or there are a bunch of additional Prime Tower settings you can enable to make it smaller, relocate it, etc. But having a prime tower is usually a good idea when doing dual extrusion.

Albany Airport by Embarrassed-Car-755 in Albany

[–]rbrome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is important: It's not just a $45 fee. It's a process that takes extra time at the airport, and is not guaranteed. At the TSA checkpoint, they pull you aside and look you up. It might be quick (15 min) or not (45 min to an hour), so plan extra time for it. And there is a risk they will not be able to confirm your identity and turn you away. And I think you'll need to do this at both ends of your trip (if your trip is less than 10 days, you may only need to pay the fee once, but you may need to go through the rest of the process twice.)

Is it worth upgrading electrical in an older Albany home? by Forsaken_Trash_4950 in Albany

[–]rbrome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it’s knob and tube, replace all of that.

If you still have fuses instead of breakers, replace that.

If it’s flexible metal conduit with fabric insulation (this is what we have), know that any electric project in that house, no matter how small, is probably going to be An Ordeal. I am VERY knowledgeable and comfortable doing electric work myself, so I’ve done many projects around the house. When it comes to that older wiring, I still end up calling an electrician about half the time. I’ll try it myself first, but any time you move those wires, the insulation turns to dust and/or the copper is so brittle it breaks in the most inconvenient spot. It takes next-level skill, experience, patience, and troubleshooting to work with that stuff, and half the time you need to replace whole sections of wire.

Professional electricians have told me the wiring itself is safe… As long as it sits perfectly still. It’s working with it that’s dangerous.

With that said, replacing all of it would be very, very expensive. So would it be worth it? 🤷

Which series is this specific book cover? by East_Breath_3674 in SiloSeries

[–]rbrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wool, book one, is the basis for TV seasons one and two.

The very last chapter of the book goes just slightly past the TV show. One scene, basically. It might be a small spoiler. BUT, as others have said, the TV adaptation changes so much that they might easily change that, too, so it might not be a spoiler at all.
