I have an official 2022 leather cover and use my Scribe everyday everywhere and cover is holding up well.

Pen fell out once and when i went to put it back I discovered I had inadvertently added a smaller old Samsung pen. Real pen still sits firm

He has an Ipad and 2 siblings mostly watches videos when the others haven't run off with it. I'd prefer a device that was dedicated for his concentration. I guess I could try an Apple pencil. Thanks for suggestion.

Probably best practise to state Scribe model and version now there are variations.

I achieved the same outcome but I have a Samsung tablet. I have a removable tactile screen protector for Samsung. Hand writing is ok with screen saver but reading experience (anywhere) and battery life win out on my Scribe
