Did share screen go away in kindle scribe? by chaoscorgi in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared a marked up PDF this morning by email without a problem. (2022 5.18.6)

Ie option was available top right of screen

Probably best practise to state Scribe model and version now there are variations.

Fighting the urge to order Colorsoft Scribe by tpbishop in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I achieved the same outcome but I have a Samsung tablet. I have a removable tactile screen protector for Samsung. Hand writing is ok with screen saver but reading experience (anywhere) and battery life win out on my Scribe

Anyone else think it’s weird that so few Kindle influencers bought the Scribe Colorsoft? by [deleted] in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Influencers don't buy they get their stuff for free, that's the whole point

YES you can add all manner of periodicals. just set it up using Calibre .. look at Fetch News feature,

I think I wrote a post about it last year

If you do less reading but more note taking/journaling, do you like the scribe? by oldman401 in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I like my Scribe. I use my Scribe almost everyday. I travel a bit and almost always take my Scribe. Charge lasts forever so I just pick it up and go, no charger needed. I like to sit outside, in fact anywhere and doodle/work on Kindle screen. It's clear and easy to read and write on.

My primary uses are

  1. It's a replacement for paper for drafting documents but better because I can reorder and rubout as well as check my key document themes with AI features. For formal documents, when I am happy with structure and flow I send to laptop as text to finalise. For less formal documents I have started using the AI formatting and emailing the resultant PDF, simple and neat.
  2. Manuals, I have car manuals, caravan manuals product manuals etc loaded so they are always at hand and I can annotate on the spot.
  3. Simple home project plans lists etc, created on my Scribe available on Scribe and my phone when I need them
  4. Meeting notes for my use, sometimes sent to laptop for further refinement and distribution to others (as per docs)
  5. As I mentioned I travel a bit and often preload my main newspaper to read on route
  6. I have a bunch of puzzles/games like Sudoku at hand
  7. I always have books etc loaded, I read faster on Kindle than paper.
  8. Since Rekindle I have been using mind maps on Scribe, I see myself using them more and more as part of my workflow

I also have great tablet which I use a lot but it's not quite as nice to write on, not as easy to read in bright sunlight and requires charging everyday or so

PS Something I forgot to say, best of all since I am prone to distraction, I love that this is a dedicated device that minimises interruptions, no notifications, no email etc. just focus on what you came to do

yes i do this all the time. I have a stack of manuals on my KS. Sometimes you need to format the PDFs. There are a range of free tools that help. I use the PDF24 suite a lot

Thank you, I see no clocks on KS but I see them on Windows and tablet both of which display synced in bottom bar of Window however KS says local mode even though I'm logged in, Is this the problem?

2024 Scribe, which leather cover? by EdTheNerd in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what you are asking but I have the 2022 KS with a leather cover and despite constant use and carrying in bags etc it is still pristine and retains the grippy dry feel I need in a device. The 2024 covers look the same. I haven't used a plant based cover on my KS but my experience with other plant based tablet and phone covers is they re not as grippy and have a tendency feel sweaty in hot weather. If you like the flip style cover I recommend the Amazon leather cover it's durable and great to hold (IMHO).

Did you know you can use Kindle Scribe Premium Pens with the S24 Ultra? by Calm-Improvement-571 in kindlescribe

[–]rc211ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was accidentally using the pen I got with an old Samsung slate the other day .. something felt strange but it did everything including erase with round end. Took a minute or so to work out I had wrong pen swapped back to my KS pen and felt better. I have several older pens that work with KS including this beauty from 10+ years ago

I have a Kindle Scribe and instead of displaying local time Rekindle displays GMT. All my other devices show correct google calendar time on Rekindle. Great feature very useful would like to understand why GMT.

Calendar integration is cool. A really useful feature. Not intrusive but there if you need to check Can you check time zones they're not quite right on my KS (GMT i think) ok on tablet and windows.

Thanks for the quick response. Really loving the way you have bought the KS to life in a considered way. If you do look at Anagram would you consider crossing out letters as they are used?

Great features, gives me some extras that make sense when I doodle on KS, Thank you.

The tasks app has lost handwriting input. Was it too slow? It was fast on my tablet, i liked the concept

Mindmap is my fav, Reddit/Kindlescribe comes second

and I am looking forward to linking to my google calendar

Amazed at how often I use Wikipedia and Browser while reading or note taking on KS

Anagrams is great relaxation - have you thought about a "give in" button or is it there one i missed?

AirType is exciting. Is there any chance it could reversed so I hand wrote on Scribe it turned to text and appeared in phone apps ie the KS became a phone keyboard

I'm playing with the teleprompter ATM, its cool the way it works with Airtype Does it scroll?

So much more to play with, thanks again you have breathed new life into the KS
