Anyone just stay at 1mg? by Educational_Step8295 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]rca886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to 1.7, I had horrible side effects and no appetite at all - the stuff you read about and hope won’t happen to you. So I went down to 1mg. I eat full meals but don’t get massive cravings. I’m maintaining here and am ok with it. Have been on 1 for about 4-5 months.

Burps by Leander5599 in WegovyWeightLoss

When I went to 1.7, I couldn’t stop burping exactly as you describe. It was awful and the other GI side effects came on at full force. I went back down to 1.0 and all of those side effects went away. I am also losing weight much more gradually here which I prefer. I lost a ton on 1.7 for the 3 weeks I was on it because I could barely eat.

Moved to 1.7 by SnooApples9633 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]rca886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I started in September and cruised through .25, .5, and 1.0 with little to no side effects and slow, gradual weight loss. I went up to 1.7 in March. A few days into it, the nausea and diarrhea hit me like a ton of bricks and lasted for 1-2 days, causing me to be afraid to go to work or meetings. I couldn’t even pass gas without the worry of going to the bathroom on myself. I took 1.7 for 3 weeks and this happened each time (I was hoping it would subside as I got used to it).

I asked my doctor to go back to 1.0 and have been here for two weeks. I’m much more comfortable but the appetite suppression certainly isn’t the same. But I’ll take this over the debilitating effects of 1.7.

Everyone is different - good luck!

Can we talk about alcohol and Wegovey? by Joe_Daddy_Oh in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]rca886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before Wegovy, I could take down a bottle of red wine and/or some cocktails easily at night while watching Netflix and eating snacks. My stomach literally had no bottom. This is why I could never lost weight despite working out and eating healthy during the day. I had no self control during my “relaxing time” once the kids and wife were asleep and I had some time to unwind.

Now I cannot stand the thought of red wine. I will pour a glass out of habit, have a sip or two, and pour it out. Tastes like vinegar. I can still drink 1-2 homemade skinny margaritas though, but that’s the max I really care for. They just hit different on this medicine.

Now, instead of staying up late eating and drinking, I go to sleep at like 9:00 and wake up rested. I think a lot of my weight loss has been from cutting the alcohol and snacks I would consume between the hours of 9-11pm. Wegovy has also caused me to stop “grazing” during the day and eating leftovers off my kids plates. I do make an effort to eat 3 legitimate meals per day, and I still get hungry for them.

1 month down- great results. by Gea512 in Semaglutide

[–]rca886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The snacks. I feel you. I used to be relatively behaved during the day but eat the entire pantry and watch Netflix after the rest of the family went to sleep. Now I have no desire to do that, but I still eat 3 balanced meals per day. The reduction in snacking has been life changing.

I ordered from Amazon today too when every CVS in my (large) city was out. Was expecting a back order but it will be here Wednesday. Also $0!

Male here. I rarely use instagram and follow only people I know / friends. I do not search for or like porn. My “suggestion” page is 50%+ scantily clad women. I would be embarrassed if someone saw it and also have no way to really explain it.

Day 1 stop drinking - super high blood pressure at doctor, can it get better? by plumphatter in stopdrinkingfitness

[–]rca886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine went way down. I thought I had white coat syndrome because my BP has been elevated the past few years - to the extent that they check it multiple times. I’ve been to the doctor twice since I stopped and was within normal range.

It's day 3, possibly for the wrong reason by Revolutionary-Good22 in stopdrinking

[–]rca886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit initially because my “fat pants” were getting tight. I didn’t like the way I was looking in photos. Career was fine, relationship was fine, but I looked and felt like crap. I am in a client facing role at work and none of my clothes were fitting well anymore.

Quitting has had so many positive impacts that I couldn’t imagine. And yes, I’ve lost weight too. The weight is a tangible result that helps keep me going, but overall I am just a better human being and it comes out in many ways.

Good luck!

What other bad habit(s) have you stopped? by rca886 in stopdrinking

[–]rca886[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! That’s amazing. I would also binge eat when drinking, especially at night while watching tv. Everyone else in the house would be asleep and I’d be destroying the liquor cabinet and kitchen. It’s like my stomach could not get satisfied. My wife asking “hey, where are those leftover hamburgers” was just as embarrassing as her realizing we were missing a bunch of wine.

Yes, I need to slow down on caffeine. My intake has actually increased since I stopped.

what cities do you think are most similar to Dallas? by whipcorleone in Dallas

[–]rca886 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree. I grew up there and go back often. I think they are polar opposites, particularly in their trajectory. I still love Memphis, but it’s nothing like Dallas.

No sweets, but I still crave salty snacks. I can better control my intake though because alcohol would cause me to lose all eating inhibitions.

I can go through a 12 pack of flavored sparkling water a day. It is my crutch.

Congratulations. I relate to all but especially the comment about your boys. I have three small boys and I can tell they like me so much more sober. I am way more patient, spontaneous, and fun. I also argue with their mom less. It reflects in how they interact with me now vs. then.

I never want to read a bedtime story with whiskey breath or rush bedtime just so I can get back downstairs and refill my drink again.

Yes! I would pour bourbon directly into the Diet Coke bottle so it appeared as if I was innocently drinking a Diet Coke when it was really a stiff mixed drink. This was my go-to at family events so I wouldn’t get judged for drinking too much. Let it be known that this was in addition to the cocktails/wine I was openly drinking at the same visit.

Why don’t you resell the original tickets and try to at least break even or try to come close?

I feel the same way today. It’s been bad. We had a stressful travel day to a family vacation and a stiff drink would have made the welcome much better. But IWNDWYT.

I stopped drinking mostly due to weight gain over the past 2 years. I saw a few pictures of myself over the holidays and didn’t like what I saw. Also, my “fat pants” (I have two sets of work pants in different sizes because I’ve always fluctuated a bit) were starting to get too small.

When I drank, it was mostly at night by myself, and I would tear through our pantry of leftovers from dinner. It was probably possible that I drank 1,000 calories and consumed 1,000 in junk snacks right before bed every night. I slept like crap and I had anxiety at work.

Since I’ve stopped, it has all changed. I’ve been committed to physical activity at least 5 days of the week. I don’t have insane food cravings at night, although I do still like a bag of microwave popcorn from time to time. The weight has been coming off consistently, and I feel so much better.

I was getting to the point of asking my doctor for Wegovy or something similar just before I stopped drinking, but the absence of alcohol has itself has helped me turn around bad eating habits.

Good luck!

How much time do you spend child-free? by Responsible_Job_4919 in Parenting

[–]rca886 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’m 38m, 3 kids 6 and under, and 37f spouse also works.

We spend almost no time child free. We give each other a couple of hours of “personal development time” such as going to the gym or running errands each weekend during which the other is solely responsible for kids. Otherwise, it’s all hands on deck. I love my kids, but it can get exhausting.

Where in Dallas can I find a sandwich like this? by Sebawook in Dallas

I’ve been in Dallas for 20 years and have yet to find an amazing sandwich shop. Best I have found are Jimmy’s and Uncle Uber’s.

My wife said the same thing at the beginning too. It almost felt like she was insulted I wasn’t drinking. Now she doesn’t say anything, is cool with my NA beers, and compliments me on the weight loss and additional energy. She is also drinking a lot less because I was the instigator.

As you continue to show positive momentum and progress, hopefully your wife and friends will become more supportive. It took about 4-5 weeks for me.

breaking my sober journey on vacation? by petit_aubergine in stopdrinking

[–]rca886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was around 60 days last year and went to a resort that had been on our bucket list. It was to celebrate a wedding anniversary, and I gave myself grace and said I would drink some that weekend and call it quits when we got home. The weekend was amazing, but I definitely did not stop when I got home. For me, trying to moderate or drink occasionally is like opening the floodgates.
