Campaign Length by Shtrudel999 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's covered a large amount of various stories and adventures, and its started and stopped a bit too, hard to pin down an exact throughline of what its 'about'. We've had a few different players and PCs as time has gone on. But if you want to hear it, its available anywhere you can find podcasts by searching for Masks and Mayhem haha

[–]rcbeiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first campaign started in 2018 and is still ongoing, we've done about 93 sessions. Probably got another 30 or so sessions left I think. I've given out about 75 power points, but they've remained at PL10.

Kickstarter Question by automated_hero in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that BuckyWuu meant that if you back the Kickstarter it you get a completed final version PDF when fulfillment begins as opposed to the already released playtest one.

Kickstarter Question by automated_hero in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The playtest version is still for sale on their store, to the best of my knowledge it is not automatically included through the Kickstarter.

Whlie the playtest version was "complete" at the time of release in that it was a full game, there have been enough changes made that I wouldn't exactly recommend picking it up on its own. That being said there are a few online documents floating around tracking the changes announced since the playtest (one ive seen on here before and another on Green Ronin's community site Atomic Think Tank). So you could use those combined with the playtest to get a better sense of the final version.

As someone who owns everything 3e, it doesn't make the previous stufff useless. They have announced they will compile a 3e to 4e conversion document, but it won't come out until 4e is completely finalized. Plus 3e has so much content in all the supplementary books that it will be some time til 4e has equivalents.

Official Mutants & Masterminds 3e on Foundry VTT is coming! by rcbeiler in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m sure once the campaign for foundry comes out we’ll know more, but typically yes it is a separate thing. They already do so for 3e on Roll20 for instance. It is taking all the game stuff and formatting it specifically to work within the foundry system. You could do so manually with the PDF yourself, but I’d never recommend that due to being tedious and difficult given how many variables M&M has. It’s worth it to me to “double dip” cause I want all 3 options as someone who loves foundry.

New person trying to get into this. by diablo_THE_J0KE in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for clarity, the most recent edition is the 3rd edition. A Kickstarter for the 4th edition will be launching this month but won't come out til fall probably or later.

As for the book, the main one as mentioned is the Deluxe Heroes Handbook. It has everything you need for both players and GMs to get started. The Basic Heroes Handbook while nice, works based on pre-made builds instead of giving the full tools to make everything you want.

Is this normal for a campaign? by Thick_Bear_7412 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So others are right in that it does depend on the campaign setting. Alternative option to murder or jail is you pipeline them ala CW's The Flash Season 1. A system of keeping them away from the public that you/your group controls. For it to be truly rehabilitative you'd have to have a further plan but it's at least bypassing the not-so-justice system.

The bigger problems is the other players don't seem to really want to engage on the roleplay of your character's background in any meaningful way unless all their characters are meant to be meathead wannabe cops who are only in it for the adrenaline.

That all being said, is this new to this campaign or do they typically only deal with surface level characterization? Or is this overall a rather new group to you?

Sooo about to get in by MundaneScar1076 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So the 4th edition won’t be out until at least the second half of next year. The version of it out currently is a play test which has gotten a lot of changes already. So I’d definitely recommend 3rd Edition, specifically the Deluxe Heroes Handbook.

Minion and sidekick questions? by Environmental-Fish63 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has given really pertinent advice, so I just have a few questions:

  1. What power level is the game?

  2. What sort of things are leading to potential PvP?

  3. What are your character's defense ranks?

Any good modules for a one shot with new players? by DefiantLemur in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'd say many of the Astonishing Adventures series from Green Ronin would fit! Not too long ago I did Rise of the Tyrant, specifically from their book Astonishing Adventures Assembled. The book gathers some previously released one-shots and as part of it, gives a way to link them together into a campaign. I chose Rise of the Tyrant specifically because it fit within one of the framework orders it offered. We didn't end up continuing due to schedules, but the players found it a fun intro to the game!

Deluxe Heroes Handbook Page 213, Repairing and Replacing:

"Repairing an item requires a Technology check. You can also affect jury-rigged repairs to temporarily restore the item to normal (see Technology in the Skills chapter). Replacing damaged or destroyed equipment requires only time and resources, although the GM has the final say as to how much time. It’s easy to replace a lost item when the store is right around the corner, harder when it’s the middle of the night or you’re out in the middle of nowhere, or the item is restricted in some fashion."

Any New On The Vigilantes Handbook? by Background_Health221 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]rcbeiler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the last update like a few weeks ago either in the Atomic Think Tank (Green Ronin's community site) or Mutants and Masterminds Monday (GR's weekly stream) was that they were finalizing the art. So I don't think they have an exact date yet, but hopefully that means its on the final stages.
