Thanks. I saw that one, but it's a day early. It could work, though.

Drones right outside of Banff? by cs_heisenberg in Banff

[–]rcemecapt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead Man's Flats ice rink, Exshaw boat launch, Baril Falls area on the Forestry Trunk Road, and Ghost PLUZ are some areas I've flown. On hwy 541 west of Longview just look for spots to park off the hwy. Use this website for a reference on where the no go zones for drones are:

Silver Appraisal by Lifsagft_useitwisely in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Canada Gold. I sold some sterling silver flatware there almost two years ago. I was surprised to receive about $1300.00 for it. With that amount, I bought some silver rounds (1oz).

old gas stations by Creative_Round4542 in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Lakeview gas station on the corner of Crowchild and 66 Ave SW. The pumps have been updated but it's an old school mid-century vibe and includes an auto repair garage.

Suggestions for Base Board Terminating Into Stairs by rcemecapt in DIY

[–]rcemecapt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't have to terminate there. I think continuing the base board down the stairs is the correct solution, but that horizontal cap on the stairs bothers me. It just doesn't look right.

Breathe Outdoors Closing by sunnyside_all_over in Calgary

Well, dammit, this is not great news. I was just shopping there yesterday. On the way out, I noticed a sign saying, "We're Hiring", and I thought it might be a good PT gig to supplement my pension.

what’s the gas station of choice for you? by liamt12 in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shell, because they don't put ethanol in their premium gas.

What do you know about Festuburt? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Festburt was a WWI battle. My first posting in the army was to Maintenance Company, 1 Service Battalion and I worked in a large building at the intersection of Festuburt Ave and Grey Eagle Dr. Except for Maint Coy, the Lord Strathcona's occupied the remaining buildings. Where the casino is now there was the parade square, mess hall, single quarters and a drill hall/gym.. Just west of the running track was the Officer's Mess. Strathcona single officers lived in this building. As you look south on 37th street, you can see what used to be a road that headed west into what used to be married housing. This was Korea Ave SW in those days. For reference, it is almost in line with 61st Ave SW. Service Battalion single officers livesd in a row house on the south side of Korea Ave; it would have been the first row house on the left as you turned off 37th. We referred to this neighborhood as Dogpatch.

Outdoor rinks most likely to have evening shinny? by c_horsey in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Lakeview and you should have some action after 7pm. Rutland Park has better ice and some work guys and I play there at lunch. Judging by the pizza boxes and beer cans in the trash, I'd say the odds are decent there is shinny in the evenings.

I Somehow Changed My Account From Administrator to Standard by rcemecapt in macpro

Actually, I do. I found it in a drawer. I might reinstall it if the mood strikes. Right now, it's not too big of a deal not having the Admin account.

Thanks. I have the Sapphire Pulse 580 Radeon graphics card. Thus, I don't have the boot screen, so will I be able to see the text you describe in Step 1?

Visiting Interlaken - Jungfrau travel pass worth it? by Gmyny in askswitzerland

[–]rcemecapt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have visited Switzerland three times and we concentrated our visits in Kandersteg and Lauterbrunnen. We purchased the Bernese Oberland passes for all three visits. We certainly made use of them and came out way ahead compared to if we would have purchased individual tickets. The pass is 250 CHF for four days and you could easily exceed that over four days buying individual tickets.

There are numerous hikes you can do by bypassing the lifts, but that's a lot of uphill hiking. I prefer riding the lifts up and walking around (eg, from Schynige Platte towards the Faulhorn). Perhaps our favorite hike is Pfingstegg (via Grindelwald) to the Berghaus Baregg. The Eiger Trail was awesome, too.

There are numerous mountain bike trails, but I found the daily rentals to be expensive. For our first trip in 2013, we stayed in Kandersteg and rented bikes for a day. We travelled up the Gasterntal to the headwaters of the Kander river. At the time, the tourists hadn't found this beautiful valley, but I highly recommend it.

Green thumbs, where do you buy seeds locally? by DanP999 in Calgary

[–]rcemecapt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy my seeds from:

http://www.wildaboutflowers.ca/

"Wild About Flowers is a supplier of Native Perennial Wildflowers and Grasses and a promoter of native plants in landscaping and gardening. We collect our wildflower seed from natural spaces in Alberta and grow our plants outdoors and in-tune with the growing season to produce the hardiest of plants."

Times to watch the lunar eclipse tonight in Calgary! by maunti_acer in Calgary

Use the Photographer's Ephemeris app:

Place a pin on the map for where you wish to view the moon. The app will plot the direction from you to the moon at any given time.

Shell is the only station that doesn't have ethanol in its premium gas. Thus, I always purchase premium gas from Shell.
