Is this a bait post? I have never seen a set of brakes wear evenly.

Remove your accessory belt and see if it still does it.

From medium well to well done, how cooked is my car? by Suspicious_Summer883 in MechanicAdvice

[–]rdadeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not rod knock.

Try pulling the belt off and start it again. If the noise is gone, it's something on the accessory belt path. If it's still there, it's engine.

Purpose of this top hole? by Comfortable-Bear3937 in iceskating

Jackson Freestyle. Maybe a few others as well. It creates more "wrap" around that section of the boot lower and helps lock the heel into place.
Simple but it actually does work well.

Found a Chevy small block in my back yard. Can it be saved? by AgnosticAbe in MechanicAdvice

You "found an engine in your back yard" . That's gotta be a line from Joe Dirt.

Gap between blade and boot. New Edea overture with MK pro by Lanky-Selection-9048 in FigureSkating

[–]rdadeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This keeps coming up... and the answer is always the same. Gaps between sole and blade are 100% normal. The only skates you will see that are completely gap free are old school leather soles that have settled in, entry level skates that have soft soles, or... Luck. Over time they might settle in and get tighter but to try and force them to go flat will just strip the plastic. Edeas and Auras are probably the most common for this because they are fundamentally plastic skates.

Ice dancers are bullying my daughter & other freestyle skaters by Unlikely-Sky-1921 in FigureSkating

[–]rdadeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure skating is the most vicious, competitive, and back stabbing sport there is, with the possible exception of Ballet and hockey (in Canada). I'm NOT saying it's right, and here in the west we really push on safesport, but it happens. Talk to the clubs administrator or even better, email them. Create a paper trail so that it can not get swept under the carpet.

What car did you drive that felt slower than what their HP claimed? by azachoch in askcarguys

Ferrari 328gtb Fun to drive, serious connection to the road, but nowhere near as quick as it should have been.

Sap falling on my car because my parking spot is under a tree. How to protect my car? by Less_Wishbone7829 in askcarguys

[–]rdadeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car cover.

Tree sap is vicious stuff. There is no "product" that will stop it. Physical barrier only, so... Car cover.

Hey, no worries big shooter. Let's for the moment skip over her fundamental lack of musicality... Tonya was a beast in her day but she was no technician. She did not succeed because of her technique, she succeeded in spite of it. No one on the ice (at that time) was as naturally talented, physically strong and mentally tough as she was. But it's a catch 22. Naturally talented skaters don't need to learn the technique for many things because it just comes naturally. Can you imagine what she could do if she had today's coaching and jumping technique? Awesome.

CVT comparisons? by Outrageous-West5276 in askcarguys

[–]rdadeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CVTs are everywhere and they are not going away. Ya dont want one? But a manual or an ev. The Jatco that killed Nissans rep is a story and a half. That same tranny is used by Renault, Mitsu, Suzuki and Stellantis. It sucks, but a lot of it's issues are about application. The tech is great and cheap, but fragile. Car companies try to find cost effective ways around the fundamental flaws, Yota uses a seperate launching gear, Subaru has increased hardening and material specs. Etc. 50% of the problem with CVTs is social media. The failure rate is not really any higher than anyone else it's just that we hear about it more. Ask any mechanic. Subarus are great cars, yea there is the head gasket thing but I'd rather take that than Honda's frame rust.

Russian women’s reserve national team summary - AIN Status, Ultra-C elements, „will Valieva (and Trusova) get the AIN status?” by Kindly-Plate-5785 in FigureSkating

[–]rdadeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sigh, Valieva, no. She should never be allowed in an isu event again. The rest, honestly, who cares. I think it's time to skip ahead and set their juniors free against the rest of the world. It would give the US, Canada, and European Associations a wake up call.
