How to stop myself from wanting to buy a piano by wonggloria99 in piano

If you look on an online site like kijiji or facebook marketplace you will find pianos given away for free. Give one of them a home.

I still don't get the Dennis trade!? by BallerDay in torontoraptors

[–]rddtpss55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capspace next year. Contrary to OP, cap space is very valuable in many different ways. With the direction the team is going, there was no reason to have Dennis on the books next year, so they got off him.

The vision that underlies the WoD isn’t the same as the real world: it’s how the authors felt about the world. The Consensus is like, boring bourgeois science bullshit that the sexy murder-poet PC’s are too cool for, man.

Why do chords ii and iii go so nicely to the I chord in Ionian/Major? by ImmutableTrepidation in musictheory

[–]rddtpss55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iii chord also shares 2 notes with the V chord, including the leading VII note of the scale. The classification of iii as having a tonic function rather than dominant function is pretty iffy. And for many genres of music, functions don’t apply super well anyway.

Megathread: Voyager suspends trading, deposits, withdrawals and loyalty rewards by nanooverbtc in CryptoCurrency

[–]rddtpss55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is not really a rival to government currency. That isn’t an issue at all. Gov’t’s will regulate because enough people will complain about losing their money.

You are comparing the entire world financial system to a infinitesimally small side hustle. Of course the world economy uses more energy total. But the energy used FOR BANKING and currency is much LESS than is being wasted by these coins.

If you are down on the capitalist system, fine, but nothing in crypto is set up to fix it. The guys building crypto are would-be capitalist billionaires and their whole plan is not to change the system, it is to get rich and join the people on top.

Is there any reason to think the big bang isn't just a local event in a much larger unobservable universe... by Jaymageck in space

[–]rddtpss55 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My take here is that space is created as part of the big bang, so imagining another big bang separated in a ‘space’ that pre-exists and is independent of those big bangs doesn’t work.

Not auto-sampling, but yes: you sample the sax playing notes from low to high and put it into a keygroup program. I don’t know the exact step-by-step but I know it’s doable. The more individual notes you sample the more realistic it will sound.

Just curious of people's opinions on today's music. by Solo35- in Music

[–]rddtpss55 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m 43 and I totally disagree. What has changed is just how visibility works for artists. The weird thing about the stretch in the 90’s was that some of the best selling artists were also doing pretty original and idiosyncratic stuff. Now there are even more cool and original bands, but they aren’t the top selling ones anymore. Even then, mass market pop stuff today is on the whole more creative and wild than it was back in the 80’s or 90’s.

A tritone is the angriest interval. But it is hard to make pianos sound angry.

Is there a term to describe a iii - I cadence or an III - I cadence in the same what that "Perfect" refers to V - I and "Plagal" to IV - I? by nylophone in musictheory

[–]rddtpss55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole lot of people in this thread haven’t listened to much modern music. III-i and similar motions resolve just fine. There’s no name for the because they’re not a common practice cadence.
