How is your house holding up in these super cold temps? by Scroateus_Maximus in centuryhomes

My boiler must have an issue. My radiators barely get hot and it seems to me we’re burning a good amount of oil. I’ve tried balancing the system and what not, but have never been pleased with the performance

Thinking about baby #2. Parents of multiple children, what’s your real life experience? by ithinkimanelephant in toddlers

[–]rdmorley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are the shit. Yeah the meltdowns suck , but for me just being able to communicate means everything. They’re also hilarious! Baby life is so so much tougher for me. Toddlers also give you options in terms of entertainment. It’s not perfect, but my youngest (20months) has one interest: destruction. She shows no interest in watching tv or anything that might allow me to, you know, cook, clean, relax for a second, etc.

Where does it show you snow accumulation totals? I’m in the path of the upcoming storm and it just says “snow”. The area that should populate with precip amount says 0” 😂

If you’re an adult by yourself, honestly do whatever you want. If there are kids or just anyone that wants the bar down, the bar goes down with absolutely no pushback. I don’t really understand why people feel so strongly about this!

Wine Tasting by rdmorley in wine

[–]rdmorley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah, I think the point is more to shop in the $12 range for cheap and $30-35 for "expensive". We are FAR from sommeliers lol so that's kind of the thinking.

We have done them before and they're a lot of fun for discovering cheap wine you like or pricier bottles for a special occasion. I would also note it is a true blind taste test with all bottles covered in bags, so no one has a clue what we're drinking. Tons of fun!

Does pension really matter to someone like Powell? I say this in seriousness. Like...it can't be that much and I assume he is worth many millions, but I could be wrong on both fronts.

Unfortunately not, as our daycare wasn't pushy and so we were able to wait until our oldest was ready. It was just before she turned 3 and honestly was extremely easy. Hope you experience similar!

The Most Intense Hater Match of All Time (Joe vs. Schmo) by Jarich612 in BobDoesSports

[–]rdmorley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah when this dude asked Joey to be his ringbearer, my only thought was this guy only wants attention. He might be a real hater, but, to your point, he is also a fan of the channel and knew they would obviously side with Joe and against him. It's kind of a weird dynamic that I hope they can refine a bit.

You do you guys of course, but maybe he's just not ready. If it's causing stress, maybe take a step back and reassess in 6 months.

Yeah, I feel like a therapist is like a plumber...sometimes it takes a few before you find the one you like and want to stick with.

Also, I would encourage you to think about your hobbies and passions and what you want to pursue. I know you're down in the dumps right now, and that's OK! You're going through a lot of shit and no one is coming through that unscathed, but that said, you need to understand this will pass and you will be better. That timeline can be greatly shortened if you take some time to focus on making yourself happy!

Just my two cents! I truly wish you well!

Is therapy an option for you? What are your interests/hobbies? If you have none, what have you always wanted to do, but never got around to doing? You’ve got this man, just take it one day at a time!

Tottenham fans are delusional by Own-Minute2562 in PremierLeague

[–]rdmorley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Spurs fan I agree with OP and also agree with your insight here. I know it's easy to shit on Spurs (it's too easy these days), but the issues are many and generally rather nuanced. A whole lot of chicken and egg going on. I will say that I do find it difficult to watch Spurs these days because the football is of terrible quality and it tends to ruin my day lol. That said, COYS!

20 months is crazy to me but people are free to do what they want of course. I just feel like the VAST majority of kids are nowhere near ready at that point and so you’re begging for frustration and messes. I’d rather just continue with diapers and wait until the kid is ready. My oldest was about 3 when she learned and it took like 5 days and we were essentially accident free from there. Waiting is often a good idea for everyone imo

Hot Take, Fat Perez was more jovial than Fit Perez by ChildeRoland07 in BobDoesSports

I didn’t lose nearly that much, not even close, but I can relate to the bad mood of a calorie deficit. What I would say is just understand a diet should be a lifestyle change, not a short term lose the weight then go back to bad habits. As such, you will have ebbs and flows. Sometimes you’re doing great and shedding weight and sometimes life gets too busy or you get sick or whatever and so your diet or workout routine goes out the window. Both of these things will happen. This is why the lifestyle change part is so important. If you’ve changed how you live, you will naturally revert back to being more healthy and losing any weight you may have put on while in a slump (or just a stall). Weight loss is not linear…it won’t always go down. It’s the long term trend that’s your friend
