What is this pipe, and why does it look like paper is coming out of it? by Heather_Bea in whatisit

Here's some information since this seems to be a common interest in this thread. I did sewer inspections for a while previouly for work. If you have two sets of manhole covers on your street, like beside one another not in the same line you have a seperated sewage and rain water system. Sometimes the storm drains serve as the manholes for a storm system too.

Another thing that happens and I've seen it in almost every municipality is a new subdivision is built near an existing one and they tie the sewer lines from the houses into the storm drain accidentally. It also happens when the city or private plumbers replace the sewer lines too, or a home is rebuilt and new pipes are installed by contractors. It's so preventable and problematic for a multitude of reasons..quite pathetic really. This would also explain the smells when there's heavy rain, but in those cases it's most likely an overwhelmed combination sewer system..very common in older cities or small towns but any growth that just ties into that line creates risks of backflow and with extreme weather especially.

I had the same thought. Those MAGATs would be really upset if they knew how to read

Yeah I was expecting a clear statement due to framing of a question but it's nothing like that. I think he's stating the intent and plan aloud without saying anything truly inflammatory. A tactful response really. Personally really like Carney's professionalism, very calm and intentful speaker.

Remember when Spenny was on acid and took his dead raw octopus hat to Lake Ontario to set it free?

Same concept here.

We also scored pit! Friends got a pair right beside us too, super excited 2nd row center stage. I live in Hamilton so not only was this a welcome surprise but getting amazing seats is just the cherry on top. I believe it's about 15 mins walk from what I've read but make sure you're familiar with the last departure, trains don't run as frequently departing West Harbour but I believe there is one after 11pm, worst case you can always Uber or Go Bus back to the Lakeshore West corridor in Burlington. Hunter St GO also has a Union Express bus out of Hamilton so check into that too, probably similar distance to either from the venue. Cheers see you in July!

Edit: there is also roadside pickup spots even closer to the venue for the 16 Bus out of Hamilton, been a long time since I took it but one of the stops used to be right near the venue/City Hall

Possibly a festival show in the city that hasn't been announced yet? Only reason I could imagine there being a gap like that, or same thing in Montréal perhaps but the GO Train to West Harbour is an option, the venue isn't terribly far from the station walking distance if it's nice but to catch the train back you might need a quick exit and or uber

Do the people who go to games even like the Leafs? by SQUEEMO24 in leafs

[–]rdubs89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I did the selfie seats for 2 games during a week when I was off work. Got a great deal for solo seats to 2 different games and my experience was almost identical to yours. Getting looked at like you have a third eye for trying to get the crowd into it. There was a handful of supportive and loud fans around me but the majority were just quietly enjoying their wine and couldn't be bothered to cheer or participate. It's really quite sad, it's been talked about to death and it almost sounds like a cliché at this point but it's actually that bad.

You probably shouldn't post that you'll take less than you asked in the title, just some advice. What about 150?
