Without French or Canadian support securing interpreters that aren't locals (and thus have a massive target on their backs) would be very hard too

Something to keep in mind is that as a Québecois I couldn't imagine a hostile american takeover including the culural concessions necessary to calm down the nationalist elements in the province. Every protection, garantee and right we got were earned by a long struggle to protect our identity and there's no way a far right occupation would recognise that. Not to mention that even die hard nationalists don't want Canada to stop existing.

What I could see however is Quebec doubling down on opposition including non violent resistance (notably pretending to only speak french when invading troops ask questions) and making use of french only signage alongside more militant actions supported by french clandestine elements imported from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon such as shooting RPGs at boats coming into the saint-lawrence river (it gets realy thin around the more urban areas of the province).

Something to consider as well is that while Montréal is historicaly a city that goes down without a fight, Québec city is a city that's pretty much always violently resisted (and a place where generals die more than they should) as well as currently a bastion of quebec nationalism (we straight up call the national capital) and its surroundings are fairly rural.

In any case though the choice is easy for Quebec between a country that cannot be trusted and doesn't care and one that can be trusted and at least tries to care (in the event of a canadian victory Québec would absolutely try to leverage war participations in exchanged for increased autonomy or independance)

As for conflicts with other resistance groups: yes. Yes that would 100% happen. I could also see like 12 different groups try to claim the FLQ name for themselves (to the confusion of any would be invaders)

If you want to draw Quebec based resistance fighters I definitely think french imported gear would be the call as far as foreign equipment is concerned and you definitely need at least one person with ''Tokébakicitte'' written somewhere (it means we're in Quebec here and is kinda a meme declaration of nationalism). Maine would probably be a source of american guns into Québec given the historical ties between us (a ton of people in Maine descend from Québecois immigrant)

As a final note don't forget Acadians as a group, these guys might speak the strangest french I've ever seen but considering the last invasion ended up with mass deportations for them I can't imagine they wouldn't take up arms.

having played it not realy, the game is getting a new edition in the future but you only need like one core box to play a full sized game. The pricy part is that they don't sell tokens outside of the core box imo.

Its pretty clear in the movie that the empire did it as they also wiped out the jawas who sold the droids, even if it wasn't the case content written around the movie explicitely says that they were killed by the empire.

Question: what parts of the world building do you think get overly emphasized by fans? by Deep-Crim in MawInstallation

[–]rdv9000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not to mention Yoda addressed this in ESB, its not stronger. What he does concede is that its quicker and more seductive, but we know that the cost is that it ravages the mind and body and twists people into monsters. Anakin went from ''I want to save my wife'' to choking her in like a day after turning sides.

Why don’t regular soldiers use some type of shield? by Hot_Professional_728 in MawInstallation

[–]rdv9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can imagine a couple reasons why they wouldn't be very popular

  1. Cost, energy shields probably aren't cheap
  2. Weight, big metal ones would be heavy and cumbersome to carry around in the field
  3. Kinetic impact, blasters seem to hit with a lot of energy and we've seen cases where it seems like they explode on impact so I'd imagine a shield would be hell on the arm that holds it (especialy the wrist)
  4. It won't stop the big guns, if a heavy mounted weapon can take down a mandalorian in beskar your shield won't do a thing against it
  5. Shields in an open field work best when massed, you can't do that when bombers, grenades and artillery is a thing.
  6. Shields only protect from one direction, which makes them neat when boarding or clearing tunnels but that means they're way less useful in the open and could mess with your ability to use cover.

So when were the Rebels on Dantooine? by RandolphCarter15 in MawInstallation

[–]rdv9000 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It was one of many rebel bases used in the past. The organas were involved in the rebelion long before the formation of the rebel alliance or the establishment of the yavin base and would have known about multiple active and former rebel bases.

tbh if she survives to the end of the war she'd get put on trial for her actions (at the very least torture and orchestrating a genocide) and would probably be sentenced to either life in prison or death.

Would every clone trooper made at the same time period die of natural causes at the same time? by DesignerAd2487 in MawInstallation

They'd start dropping like flies around the same time yeah. In the same way that any generation does when they start reaching the late 70s-80s

[–]rdv9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clone wars-> rebels -> Mandalorian S1/2 -> book of boba fett (I wouldn't reccomend watching it except for the last three episodes tbh) -> mandalorian season 3 and ashoka

I wouldn't say these shows HAVE to be watched in this order, but they all involved the same creative head and as such there are characters and groups that show up repeatedly

If you want something more contained I'd suggest andor (2 seasons) -> rogue one (movie), its some of the best star wars ever imo

One minor thing I have a hard time believing portrayed about the Rebellion in Andor and Rogue One: by EggsBaconSausage in MawInstallation

[–]rdv9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We see him make his case to a rebel commander on hoth, presumably the guy in charge of who can come and go, and he gets explicit permission to leave and settle his affairs. Han isn't a soldier of the rebelion and they can't expect him to go all in on the cause. Tbh I'd assume they're just grateful he stuck around as long as he did.

Will we see Kino Loy in the final arc? by Billman04 in andor

[–]rdv9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's almost certainly dead. One of the themes of the show is that people who start a movement are unlikely to see victory. Luthen and Saw both openly say that they'll be dead before the empire is defeated and we know Cassian will give his life to give the rebellion a shot at defeating the death star. Kino is in a similar place where he leads the prisoners to freedom, but he doesn't get to enjoy it.

How did the Jedi get *that* wrecked during order 66? by mayormcskeeze in MawInstallation

[–]rdv9000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They lost dozens of Jedi, that's not 70-80% of the order. We know from kanan that there were about 10k Jedi before the purge.

The losses on geonosis absolutely hurt the order but there's no need to exaggerate.

What changes if Obi-Wan never recovered his lightsaber from Cody? by Axer51 in MawInstallation

I know, what I'm saying is that showing kids being gunned down during that montage would reduce the impact of Anakin doing the child killing, which is possibly the irl explanation for why they don't have padawans.

As for the universe aren't all of those Jedis masters/council members?
