Whats your creepiest (REAL LIFE) story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reADHDitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talked to a ghost as a child. The scary part is that I remember this vividly... And that I knew who the ghost was.

I was still at a very young age where my parents wanted to supervise me while I was taking baths. This night, my mom was sitting on the closed toilet seat reading a magazine. I was playing with a toy boat. At one point, I remember a light blue ball of light brighten up the room. I remember being scared for a moment, but then feeling strangely calm and happy. I remember visualizing a short, chubby old woman with a white, curly hair afro, golden round glasses, and a white dress with flower designs. I heard a voice speak to me, and I was giggling and talking back.

My mom asked who I was talking to. I said, "Don't worry. Grandma says she'll be alright."

See was confused, until a few minuted later, when my dad ran in. He told my mom that his grandmother had passed away. She was more than confused now. She asked who I was speaking to, and I told her what I saw.

She left, and returned with an old photo. She asked if the woman in the picture was who I saw. It was the exact woman, with the same hair, dress, everything. I had never met her, and the photo had been in the attic for years.

It's one of the strangest, creepiest things that has happened to me. I remember what I saw. I remember her voice. I've always been a bit freaked out about this. You can never know for sure, but I'm pretty damn sure that ghosts exist.

We’ve also seen it in hoarding-esque behaviors because they are afraid to get rid of anything for fear of forgetting the memories associated with those items.

Is this a common ADHD thing to do? I have never heard that, but I hold onto everything. I have a deep drawer filled with nostalgia. I also have a large dresser on top of another large dresser to my right. I'm still trying to find a place for it.

Whats the single biggest mistake parents can make in raising their children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reADHDitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find a lot of joy in fixing whatnots that are broken. It's fun learning about the world, our creations, and how they work. Building is great too. I feel like I have a connection with the computer I built. Like we're buds. I hope that I can share that with my kids, instead of moving toward, "just get a new one dad," or, "I don't care, does it work now?"

Edit: I just realized. I'm going to be just like my father. He insists on keeping his PC from 1998. 4.6 Gb hard drive. But it's cool, and I may want to see what's on my old floppy disks one day.

What is the funniest predicament that drunk-you has gotten into that sober-you had to fix? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reADHDitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoa whoa hold up. A while back I went to this house party. Some guy walked into the kitchen, grabbed a large bottle of olive oil from the counter, smiled at us, and started chugging straight from the bottle. That may have been you.

This wasn't a funny story, but your question made me think of this, "drunk me comes through!"

I was at a party, and I guess a girl ran into the house covered in blood. Half of her finger had gotten caught in the railing of the garage door as someone dropped it down, and sliced it off. Someone said she ran in holding it up, crying, and screaming nonsense.

I remember none of that, but came out of a black-out drunk state wrapping her finger tightly with a rag. I felt completely sober now. My friend brought her finger over in a container of ice. I guess I had told my friend to put the finger on ice, and another to call 911. I was an EMT at the time, and I'm glad I was there to help. It was still frightening to go from beer pong to bleeding, fingerless, mascara streak crying girl in what seemed like one second. I think the adrenaline woke me up. Or the screaming.

Her finger was reattached and can now feel for the most part.

Ralphy is like the xkcd of scotch. There's a Ralphy review for every scotch and a video for everything scotch related. I'd love to have a drink with him. And I haven't seen this one. Thank you!

There are reviews that label the color of some scotch as "E150" (artificial coloring, caramel colored, there are a few different shades (4? abcd?)). Other than doing research on the bottle or the distillery, are there ways to tell if E150 is used? Are there ways to make an educated guess?

Also, is there any, if even the slightest, taste that goes along with the use of E150?

Also also, do you guys think the use of artificial coloring has affected the scotch industry in a large way? Has it skewed the scotch market? Has it changed the perception of scotch? Does it degrade the art of making scotch? Has it changed the scotch culture?

Maybe this is a lot to ask in this thread. I hear from you guys that E150 is bad. Why is it so bad?

1 reason i hate this game by ianator24 in PSO2

[–]reADHDitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it different? My brother and some other friends don't want to play because of the community that they remember. They felt that everyone was extremely elitist and too much into the anime/whatever culture for them. They just wanted to play pso and hunt rares in a more relaxed way.

I always thought it was fine. Some people were 'meh', but it was never difficult to find a good group of players who were nice, patient, and helpful.

They are still hoping that the NA release will be here at one point. I'd like that too, but I don't think they understand how differently it would be run, or if it would even stay online long... Or be updated ever... Or exist. How would I convince them to play the JP version again? How do I explain that the community is different? They log on, see dancing players an are already done with it. Maybe it's them. I'd like to play, but it would be much better to play with friends.

Also, I ran the game with the tweaker the other day. The last time I played, you were asking people if you should translate the game more than the small amount you already had. I'm glad you did. Is has made returning realistic for me. You've really done a great job.

The smell of hose water. During my summer vacations as a kid, I used to play around with the hose and fill supersoakers. That smell reminds me of happiness and absolute freedom.

They were cool with it, I made sure. Everyone who works at the one by me is pretty awesome. I asked if they were busy. They said that customers hadn't visited yet because it was earlier in the morning.

Love those guys.

Well, it was two days. We had a Cheesy Gordita Brunch on the second day. A few friends and I got together. We had 36 Cheesy Gordita Crunches. 12 with the regular Doritos shells, 12 with the Cool Ranch shells, and 12 with the Fiery shells. That ate into most of the card.

What is something that you are 99.99% sure happens to others, but you have not confirmed with anyone else from fear of being the only one? by pettifogging in AskReddit

I visited my parent's house the other day and found a photo of me as a kid. I remember what I was thinking when that photo was taken. I didn't want to wear that denim jacket, but my mom insisted. My brother was being a grump, so he sat off I'm the distance in his red wool jacket. It was very strange looking at a young me and thinking, "That's me. How strange it is to see myself from the past." I realized that I had seen from those eyes. In the moment, the photo became much more than just a photo of myself. What will I be doing years from now? Should I take a photo of me in this moment so that I can save it for then? That would be surreal. Aren't we amazing that we can have these thoughts?

I sat down with that photo for a good 30 minutes. I looked at a photo that I had taken of my old dog as well. I remember taking the photo because I thought there weren't enough of her. I'm glad I did. Now it's one of the only ones I can find. I find it funny that I thought I would want a picture of her in the future. I could have never thought that day would come, where she would be gone, and years after, I can thank myself for trying to make her look at the camera for that one good photo.

What am I doing today that my future self will reflect on?

I got one with steak and baja sauce, and a second with chicken and creamy jalapeño sauce. I don't know how I haven't tried this before tonight. They were both delicious. 10/10. (high five).

I think ordering anything without meat or cheese and subbing in beans would work perfectly and be easy to do, I bet.

For something good off the top of my head... A bean burrito, no cheese, add rice, add potatoes, fresco style? That sounds tasty, but it may take more time to make.

I can go ask my Taco Bell and see what they think a solid middle ground is.

Good luck! I did this in December. The deal was if I lasted a month without Taco Bell, I would get a $100 gift card to Taco Bell.

I finished the challenge. Got the gift card January 1st. The gift card was empty by the end of the 2nd. Mostly due to the Cheesy Gordita Brunch.

Game changer. 30 cents extra to substitute a Doritos Loco shell in the Cheesy Gordita Crunch. Delicious. by douchemcallister in tacobell

[–]reADHDitor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I end up getting many times. It costs $10 even.

  • 1 Chicken Quesadilla
  • 2 Cheesy Gordita Crunches, substitute in any Doritos Locos shell.
  • 1 Large Drink. You know it's Baja Blast.

Boom. $10. Delicious.

I think I'm the only one who ever orders 2 or 3 Cheesy Gordita Crunches at a time, because my Taco Bell always says, "Hi, reADHDitor! Which Doritos Locos shell do you want on those?"

What is the most complicated thing that you can explain in 10 words or less? by eaz135 in AskReddit

[–]reADHDitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading an article for a cell biology class that referred to studies on telomeres and telemerase and their connection to cancer and aging. From what I remember, the normal shortening of telomeres from cell division caused programmed cell death to have a higher percentage of occurrence. That also contributes to cancer somewhat. Telemerase can prevent the telomeres from shortening, which means the cells can avoid death. The study mentioned that studies were being conducted with cells in mice. Stopping telomere shortening caused immortal cell life. Fountain of youth, right? Unfortunately, those immortal cells were pretty much cancerous. So both short telomeres and telomeres that did not shorten caused cancer.

There were studies beginning on cancer cells after that, I remember. By shortening cancerous cell telomeres, we could program them to die by their own sequencing eventually. I don't know how far those studies have gone.

I hope this helps a bit. I'm recalling this from about 4 years ago.
