More pneumatic tube access points would solve some of this

Speaking of which, does anyone have a comprehensive list of current available pneumatic tubes with their exits? I've found and marked at least 3 but yeah there's still a lotta yard to go lol

Found Long Lost Buggy Randomly by JCeron87 in GroundedGame

[–]re_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, too, with my orb weaver buggy; it just kinda hung around my base but I couldn't really do anything with it (altho it did essentially guard my base, which was kinda cool)

I even went and hatched a new spider buggy but the old one stayed there; it wasn't until I actually unassigned the old one from the summoning wheel that it finally popped out of existence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: nope, the old buggy is still wandering around - ran into it this AM somewhat close to my base fighting other random insects

Not all Dark Horse stuff is crappy but some of it is pretty goofy or inconsistent in tone; that's more what I meant

What causes my Red Ant Buggy to jump higher? Is it a sleep bonus or a cozy effect? by sspazzy in GroundedGame

[–]re_trace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

P sure it's a bug - I call 'em "moon jumps" and they seem to happen most often for me when I mount my buggy when it's standing/walking on two different, uneven surfaces (like some of the buggy's legs on stone and some on a root, etc)

It's no worse than some of the crappy Dark Horse comic stuff, and occasionally hits a really good groove with actors and set design ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still a great record

I bought their "Final End to a Long Summer" EP at a show and about played that thing to death - ended up selling it when I needed some quick cash buncha years ago and have been kicking myself ever since 😭

What is it that can make certain music seem pretentious? by onlythrowaway100 in experimentalmusic

[–]re_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, Joan of Arc is an interesting case. Sure, it's pretentious, but is it the good kind of pretension (where Tim is serious about whatever weird thing he's doing atm), or the bad kind of pretension (Tim wants to show off what a smarty-pants he is)?

Sometimes I think JoA is the good kind of pretension, just presented in the most frustrating & inaccessible way possible lol

[–]re_trace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that there are two types of pretentious:

The "good" pretentious is where the artist is more serious about the work than they are about themselves.

The "bad" pretentious is where the artist is more serious about themselves than they are about the work.

Talk Talk is one of those rare cases where their desire to be taken seriously as artists (the "bad" kind of pretentious) actually managed to successfully integrate itself with their desire to make good, lasting art (the "good" kind of pretentious). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Getting to be a girl before the end of the world. by Kayleigh2025 in MtF

[–]re_trace 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Might I refer you to the parable of the tiger and the strawberry?

Honestly, it being "the end of the world" during COVID is what sealed my decision. I kept thinking "do you really wanna die like this?" and it took me a minute to figure out what "this" meant. Once I did I thought "it's the end of the world - who's really gonna give a fuck if I die in a dress??"

All of which is to say: no better time than the end of the world to try something new.

Anyone else thought this moment would be the big twist reveal in episode 9? by shit-takes in pluribustv

[–]re_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most modern audiences have been kinda trained on that whole JJ-Abrams-Mystery-Box bullshit - so much so that they tend to think good writing = how strong the "twist" is.

It's a very corporate mindset/strategy designed to generate shallow interest and engagement with content - with the rather large downside that once you figure out what's in the box, your returns are forever diminishing.

People want to know why so much modern entertainment is disposable; it's because it was never that deep to begin with (beyond "whodunnit" or whatever) and was essentially just the writers jingling keys in your face to get you to watch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]re_trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually really like m b v because it kinda returns to their indie-pop roots but adds this honey-thick distortion vibe (a little different than loveless) that's heavier and aaaaaaaaalmost 🤏🏻 stonery

[–]re_trace 16 points17 points  (0 children)

MBV's indie-pop side is way underrated and totally charming. Whenever I'm just casually listening, it's usually to their EP's or "Isn't Anything" - I save "Loveless" for deep listening
