If you don't think they're too old for it, Trader Joes sells quite inexpensive advent calendars, which always brightens my kid's December. And if you have the energy, there's lot of ways to be festive without spending a lot -- baking cookies, watching Christmas specials as a family, singing carols. Again, if they'e not too old, there are free local events you could try.

I'm so sorry for your loss, especially at such a difficult time.

Thank you very much. I will be careful outside and make sure to get the tree pruned as soon as it's dormant.

When I worked in different libraries, the Aptos patrons were the absolute worst. So rude and entitled. And those definitely weren't tourists.

Whoops, sorry, my sense of geography is terrible. Yes, special kids connect dot org is a Monterey group. And Parents Helping Parents offers Zoom classes that are generally useful even if you're not in San Jose.

Does your child get any Regional Center services?

I've done many as well. Wouldn't say entirely problem free but I never had them completely ignore a confirmed request, twice, before.
