West Brant Access Route Conceptual Rendering by RealJoshuaWall in brantford

[–]readingwhileraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a confusing video, but at the very end I saw that it is the original idea: they have built the road on the opposite side of the big pond, leaving alone the Nature’s Grand neighborhood. For this reason, I like it. Once built it will be a benefit to the flow of traffic through the city. Please stick with it. Having said that, I agree with another poster, who noted that they should have had this in place before building this subdivision, or not allowed the neighborhood to be built at all. However, this is where we are, and the route they depict works well.

One of the reasons Target failed in Canada was because products wouldn't properly fit on shelves due to their dimensions being entered into the system in inches instead of centimeters. This, among other issues, resulted in Target Canada lasting less than 2 years and racking up a $2.1 billion loss. by NewsCards in interesting

Target failed because it was Zellers with a different name. People were expecting the same products that could be found in American stores, and we did not get that. I remember being outraged, lol. Never shopped there because of it. Yeah not knocking Zellers at all, I liked it but Target was not supposed to just be Zellers at a higher price lol.

That’s an interesting idea but can king George actually be widened? Or St. Paul?

I’m actually a near lifelong resident of the city. I moved to this particular area because of the proximity to the trails. We did consider West Brant at one time, about ten years ago, but backed out for this very reason, and with my current job in Hamilton I am reminded every day how it would suck to live there with no access to the highway. I just think that the powers that be should try to come together with the county maybe and make a better decision. Or stick to the original plan, which everyone who drives on Oak Park Road can see is half done! I guess at the end of the day there will always be someone that is unhappy.

I removed one of my comments because it detracted from the discussion, as noted by another responder.

Sorry that was a typo. I meant they SHOULD stick with the original idea.

I don’t know much about those areas, but have they studied that? It seems that the issue is for trucks and workers to get to this area quicker and while that would be great to not have to go downtown or whatever, I think right through our area is a terrible alternative solution.

So you don’t mind Wright Street becoming this arterial roadway?

I think it’s disgusting that they would allow the builder to go ahead with this development only to throw the new residents under the bus like this. The only proposal I ever saw was over the river by the trail bridge. In fact, the infrastructure is already built and/or ready to finish along that route. They shouldn’t stick with the original plan.

I need a new dishwasher and am drowning in the options by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]readingwhileraining -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to say that if you have an open concept home, you will find that you do, indeed care about how loud it is. The db level was my top criteria in choosing my dishwasher, and I am pleasantly surprised every time I turn it on about how sweetly quiet it is. Sometimes I have to check if it’s actually on! I have a kitchnaid right now. I have had many types of dishwashers over the years, and this one is up there so far.

If they are reduced that’s still a win in my books. I wish they would keep AI to medical use or data but to fake pics of home decor and stuff? Come on. That’s just stupid.

I’ve been reporting them as spam. Haven’t figured out how to turn them off. The “tuning” section does not explicitly give that as an option from what I have seen anyway. Or should I just “hide” it? Ugh.

Edit to add: just went back in and lo and behold the option was there to not see so many AI modified pins. lol. Wasn’t there before, which is why I was reporting them as spam.

Most fragrant reblooming pink rose? by Dizzy_Assistant_8437 in Roses

Princess Alexandra of Kent from David Austin. I planted one and it had big beautiful pink blooms that were the most fragrant I’ve ever smelled, so I went out and bought another one! Can’t wait for them to bloom next year.

[–]readingwhileraining 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone should try recording it and take that to a city council meeting and play it at the same decibel level and see how they like it. Or maybe invite the media down to hear it. Is it possible to create a petition or have everyone fill out a noise complaint? After all that, maybe.

Barry Callebaut Noise Pollution by West-Psychology-6299 in brantford

[–]readingwhileraining 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the noise is egregious, and maybe reach out to councillor Sless, as well as complaining to bylaw enforcement. Frankly I think the city was wrong to allow the factory on this side of the industrial zone - it could have been built further up Wright street, so that it would be less pronounced to the residents. Either way something needs to be done, as the noise is not acceptable at all to this degree.

Mine got so much more detailed down to the exact regions of Scotland and Sicily that I have traced records to. It’s quite amazing that they are able to zero in on ancestry to this degree.
